Bernhardt Design Charles Pollock Cp3 Occasional Table
Design Charles Pollock, 2012. Polished stainless steel frame, leaded glass top. Made in USA by Bernhardt Design. Following the successful 2012 launch of the CP Lounge Collection for Bernhardt Design, Pollock expands his breadth with his first-ever series of occasional tables. Bernhardt Design debuted the cp.3 Table collection. One of Pollock's guiding principles is purity, and he often refers to his designs as "simple lines in space." This minimalist philosophy is evident in Pollock's new tables. Pared to the essentials, each table is composed of intersecting lines with one special detail. The rectangular crossbars are offset slightly at the intersection with the tubular legs, and the ends are curved to emulate each leg's radius. "Designing tables was something new for me, so I decided to take a new approach. Much of my work has been about reducing forms down to a single line. These tables are about using lines to build something up. The joint detail implies they are assemblages," says Pollock. "Nothing in life emerges fully formed; everything is a work in progress." The cp.3 Tables are available as 42 inch diameter coffee tables or 22 inch diameter side tables, with polished stainless steel bases with 1/2 inch flat edge leaded glass tops. 21" dia. | 18" h.

    Moroso Ukiyo End Table
Design Tomita Kazuhiko, 2006. Steel wire, polyester resin, kimono fabric. Made in Italy by Moroso. Ukiyo is an end table with a lightweight steel wire structure, in contrast with the boldly decorated table top, formed using traditional kimono fabrics co-pressed with polyester resin. The design is part of a Moroso research project into accessories and decoration. Ukiyo is a well known 18th-century Japanese concept, linked to Shintoist realism, according to which nothing can remain as it is for long, so that living/remaining alive in each moment is the way to attain eternity, as paradoxical as this might seem. Blossoming is the happiest, most radiant time, in which maximum energy is given off everywhere, although no one can say whether the newly-blooming flower will still exist a moment later or not. Thus flowers have been the most widely used decorative motifs ever since the time when all Japanese people wore kimonos. Moroso Kub Table
Design Nendo, 2009. Varnished steel. Made in Italy by Moroso. With their varying heights, diameters and digitally-produced patterns like wood bark, the pieces in Kub furniture series recall tree stumps. The solid linear metal pieces in the series are a visual play on the 'wireframes' of 3D software, while the volumes of the soft, smooth fabric-covered ones project a strong sense of surface. By combining these oppositional elements-line and surface, nature and artifice, soft and solid-Nendo hoped to generate objects that exist in an ambiguous space between nature and digital expression. Under the direction of architect Oki Sato, the group that gathers under the name Nendo has produced, since 2002, a cultural and refined alternative to self-celebrated design. "Nendo" in Japanese means "clay" and their job, in the field of interior architecture, of furniture and graphics is pliable and flexible as clay. In a short few years, Nendo has received important international credits. The Kub table/stool features varnished steel in your choice of colors. small: 11" dia. | 15.75" h. large: 25.5" dia. | 11" h.

Chestnut, a prized hardwood, is decay-resistant and extremely stable making it an excellent choice for furniture. The chestnut for this piece is carefully selected with knots adding character to every piece. The timber is sustainably harvested in Europe. The trees on the farms are methodically cared for, ensuring exceptionally strong planks of the highest quality. Mortise and tenon joints, dovetailing and lap joints combined with slow-drying wood glue that seeps deep into the fibres of the solid wood create strong, unbreakable bonds adding long life to every piece of furniture. Ilse Crawford heads the design company Studioilse alongside her brand consultancy. A figurehead for design that puts the human being at the center, she has a definitive approach to creating charismatic and long-lasting brands. Ward Bennett's story is a remarkable one. His career began at age 13, when he quit school to work in the garment district in New York City. At 15, he designed his first clothing collection; at 16 he left for Europe, where he continued working on fashions. Simplicity and comfort were always his goals. Bennett designed more than 150 chairs, many of which have become classics. He is considered the first American to use industrial materials for home furnishings, well before the high-tech look of the 1970s became popular. He was hailed by the American Institute of Architects for "transforming industrial hardware into sublime objects." Many of Bennett's designs are in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection as well as in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum; he is also in Interior Design magazine's Hall of Fame. These are subtle changes seen as the stone ages & values associated with natural materials. No two tabletops are identically the same; variations in both color and veining are to be expected. Four models from the series - Side Chair, Wiggle Side Chair, Dining Table and Low Table Set - are now being produced by Vitra. The most celebrated architect working today, Frank Gehry has single-handedly changed conventional ideas about architecture. Design Isamu Noguchi, 1949. Wood top, metal & wood legs. Made by Herman Miller® "Everything is sculpture, any material, any idea without hindrance born into space, I consider sculpture." -Isamu Noguchi. The Herman Miller Collection has proudly reintroduced Isamu Noguchi's 1949 Rudder Table, an outstanding example of the noted artist-designer's skillful use of deceptively simple organic forms to create highly functional and beautiful furniture. The table's name stems from the character of its single wood leg support, which is reminiscent of a ship's rudder. Paired with two metal hairpin legs, the table seems to visually rest on the rudder leg, lending a visual lightness and grace to the whole. Noguchi's relationship with Herman Miller came about when one of his designs was used to illustrate an article written by George Nelson called "How to Make a Table." It became his famous "coffee table," and it's as appealing today as it was then. For someone who was told by his first art teacher at age 15 that he'd "never be a sculptor," he left an amazing legacy. The Noguchi Rudder table shares a near-identically shaped and sized top as the glass Noguchi Coffee Table from 1947, which quickly became one of the most iconic Herman Miller pieces following its own reintroduction in 1984. It is offered in walnut, ebony stain or whit ash finish options. 49.75" w | 35.75" d | 15.75" h. ships ready to assemble.

Herman Miller® Eames Molded Plywood Coffee Table - Metal Base
Design Charles & Ray Eames®, 1946. Molded plywood, metal base. Made by Herman Miller® "The details are not details. They make the product. The connections. It will in the end be these details that give the product its life." -Charles Eames. This classic table's top are shaped by molding thin wood veneers under heat and pressure--the same breakthrough process Charles and Ray Eames used to create their molded plywood chairs. The molded plywood coffee with metal legs is lightweight in both appearance and fact. Its dimpled top is created by the molding process and forms a subtle border to help avoid accidental spills and create a natural centerpiece. The coffee table first came to Herman Miller's attention when George Nelson, design director, saw it and other Eames molded plywood products at a showing in the Barclay Hotel in New York City in the mid-1940s. Nelson contacted the Eameses and soon afterward, they were designing for Herman Miller. These imaginative tables are an enduring landmark of modern, functional design. With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look." The Molded Plywood Coffee Table with Metal Legs features a 5-ply top and natural face veneers and hardwood inner plies. The ebony option is stain on ash veneer and inner plies are not as visible. The base is offered in black with black glides or trivalent chrome with white glides. 34" dia. | 15.5" h. ships ready to assemble.
