    Artifort Bras Footstool
Design Khodi Feiz, 2014. Upholstery, steel base. Made in The Netherlands by Artifort. "In a way, I like to see Artifort not as a company in the business of making furniture, but in the business of making history." -Khodi Feiz. The Bras invites you to make yourself comfortable, and embraces you. Reclining and taking it easy, or sitting cosily in a corner, enjoy the relaxation and comfort offered by this beautiful, sleek sofa. One striking feature of the Bras is its unique armrests. The natural form of your arm when gently resting it on an armrest inspired Khodi Feiz to produce this design. After all, your arm doesn't bend at a perfect right angle; it bends at different joints in an angular curve, just like the Bras armrest. The seat, backrest, and armrests are upholstered separately and only connected to each other at a later stage. This emphasizes the sleek curves of the sofa even more, and gives the design a light and unique character. The optional cushions give the sofa a playful accent, and the footstool offers space for outstretched legs or on its own. Khodi Feiz was born in Iran. He graduated from Syracuse University in Industrial Design. After working for Texas Instruments Design Center and later joining Philips Design in the Netherlands, he founded feiz design studio with graphic designer Anneko Feiz - van Dorssen. They specialize in a variety of design fields. Their work has received numerous awards and has been featured in exhibitions and publications worldwide. The upholstery and powder-coated base for the footstool are available in a variety of options. Bras is also offered as a 2, 2,5 and 3-seater sofa. bras footstool: 21.6" d | 15" h | 39.4" w.

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have expanded the Alcove product family with the addition of Alcove Plume, a low-slung sofa with an emphasis on casual comfort. Alcove Plume offers an inviting place to put up your feet and relax in its soft upholstery, which comes in a wide range of colors. Moroso Kub Pouf
Design Nendo, 2009. Wood internal frame, foam, plastic, upholstery. Made in Italy by Moroso. With their varying heights, diameters and digitally-produced patterns like wood bark, the pieces in Kub furniture series recall tree stumps. The solid linear metal pieces in the series are a visual play on the 'wireframes' of 3D software, while the volumes of the soft, smooth fabric-covered ones project a strong sense of surface. By combining these oppositional elements-line and surface, nature and artifice, soft and solid-Nendo hoped to generate objects that exist in an ambiguous space between nature and digital expression. Under the direction of architect Oki Sato, the group that gathers under the name Nendo has produced, since 2002, a cultural and refined alternative to self-celebrated design. "Nendo" in Japanese means "clay" and their job, in the field of interior architecture, of furniture and graphics is pliable and flexible as clay. In a short few years, Nendo has received important international credits. The Kub pouf is upholstered in fabrics coupled to polyurethane printed by heat induction. small: 15.75" dia. | 19" h. large: 36.25" dia. | 14.5" h.

    Knoll Platner Ottoman
Design Warren Platner, 1962. Steel wire rod, upholstery. Made in Italy by Knoll. In the 1960's, Warren Platner transformed steel wire into a sculptural furniture collection, creating what is now considered a design icon of the modern era. The Platner collection's unique harmonious forms are produced by welding steel wire rods to circular frames, producing a moire effect and capturing the decorative, gentle, graceful quality that Platner sought to achieve. The hand crafted Easy Chair, a popular sculptural icon paring geometry and color, is the epitome of curvy comfort; it is available with or without the Ottoman, which can also be used independently. Warren Platner's collection of seating and tables using nickel-plated bent wire as a structural and decorative element has captivated furniture enthusiasts worldwide. While many Platner Collection pieces have been in continuous production, the Easy Chair and Ottoman were only produced between 1966-1988 and now re-released for 2014. The Easy Chair offers a generous seat and a high back, enveloping the sitter in comfort. The Platner collection also includes a side chair, low stool plus dining, side and coffee tables. The Platner seating collection features vertical steel wire rods welded to circular horizontal and edge-framing rods. The frame base has a clear plastic extrusion ring for a smooth bottom surface. The seat is a molded fiberglass shell with highly resiliant molded urethane foam cushions. Seat and ottoman cushion utilize the same highly resilient molded urethane foam cushion. Finished in bright nickel with a clear lacquer protection. ottoman: 26.75" dia. | 16.9" h.

    Artifort Tulip Ottoman
Design Pierre Paulin, 1965. Upholstery, polished swivel base, chrome. Made in Holland by Artifort. "A chair should be more than simply functional. It should be friendly, fun and colorful." -Pierre Paulin. As if Pierre Paulin had premonitions of Flower Power, the simple Tulip spreads its half-open petals around the sitter, inviting and warming at the same time. The Tulip is stately with a high back, which is an eminently comfortable armchair. With its matching footstool, it makes a strong and yet exceptionally comfortable combination. Pierre Paulin studied stone carving and clay modeling at the Ecole Camondo in Paris in the early fifties where he began designing furniture for Thonet. In 1958, he became the designer for Artifort where he created a series of sculptural chairs with an inner structure of steel tubing, covered in foam and fabric. In 1968, Paulin collaborated with Le Mobilier National and received many important government commissions including furniture and interiors for the Elysee Palace in Paris. He also designed home appliances. Restored to its place of honor - the Tulip chair has been reintroduced with its original cross-base. Having once fallen from favor due to the arrival of the swivelling disk base, it can now be admired in all its original glory. The polished stainless steel metal-strip cross-base looks lighter and airier than the disk and gives the Tulip an elegant twist. ottoman: 26.75" w | 18.5" d | 18" h.

One of the first designs in the Classic Collection and 'the easy' chair of the sixties. The chromed metal base is so minimalist that the seating shell seems to float. The Oyster was in the Artifort collection until 1979 and by request, it was brought back into the collection in 1999. Design Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2008. Chromed steel, metal, polyurethane foam, polyester, wool and upholstery. Made in Germany by Vitra. A sofa can go beyond being merely a piece of furniture and become a room of its own within a room - this was the idea that prompted Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec to design the Alcove Sofa. With its soft seat and backrest upholstery, as well as the high, flexible side and back panels, Alcove Sofa creates the frame for a comfy, safe and secure world, a place for relaxed withdrawal from the hustle and bustle of life. Yet, Alcove Sofa is also a meeting place and point of communication: In the larger version two people can sit opposite each other, relaxing back against the side walls. As two- or three-seaters, the Alcove Sofa fits interiors of different sizes. Moreover, the Alcove Love Seat offers the advantages of the Alcove Sofa but for a small footprint. The Alcove Ottoman is a comfortable complement. The two brothers, Ronan and Erwan, have been working together since 1999. Design Charles & Ray Eames, 1956. Molded plywood, die-cast aluminum legs, leather upholstery. Made by Herman Miller® "Who would say that pleasure is not useful?" -Charles Eames. The Eames lounge ottoman is the culmination of Charles and Ray Eames' efforts to create comfortable and handsome lounge seating by using production techniques that combine technology and handcraftsmanship. Its heritage goes back to the molded plywood chairs pioneered by the Eameses in the 1940s. The Eames ottoman is considered among the most significant and collectible furniture designs of the 20th century and is part of the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art. Charles Eames said his goal for the chair was the "warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt." Every one is a special refuge from the strains of modern living. The first lounge chair and ottoman, produced in 1956, was a birthday gift for friend Billy Wilder, the Academy Award-winning film director, and it made its public debut on Arlene Francis' Home show, which later became the Today show. With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look." Every ottoman manufactured since the original has received the same meticulous handcrafted attention. The rich veneer and supple leather suggest old-fashioned luxury translated into modern forms, setting an enduring standard for comfort and elegance. In addition, the ottoman is now available in a veneer called santos palisander, a lustrous veneer that has the same characteristics as the original rosewood, color and grain. The ottoman has 6-inch thick urethane foam cushions and rich leather upholstery available in your choice of colors. The wood is harvested exclusively from sustainably managed forests and is available in five finish options.
