    Marsh Scott "Flux" Acrylic Painting
Scott's fresco paintings are diary entries from life. Layering poetry, symbols, color, texture, and line, she uses them to resolve, understand, and express all the emotions of life and to reconcile concepts about relationships, time and identity. As she builds through the layers Scott slowly obscures the most most private and finally focus the surface with a frame. Throughout the rich surface in carved line and symbols, scraped and brushed paint and plaster, her expressive gestural strokes, marks and washes of color evoke visceral reactions. Alternating painting and carving into fresco puts the concepts into concrete form with the addition of a language of symbols. Addition, subtraction, palette knives, brushes and rags meld the surface into a cohesive whole. Sheer, transparent color is both in and on the surface, hiding, revealing and defining at the same time.

The artist uses a combination of indirect and alla prima painting to compose the piece. He then varnishes with one coat of conservation picture varnish to saturate and protect the surface from dust particles and volatile organic compounds. The painting panels are thoroughly braced with a 13 ply Baltic birch ply wood. The paintings are signed either on the lower right or left corners and are wired for hanging. To clean, simply dust the surface lightly with a micro fiber cloth or feather duster. This painting embodies the vulnerability of the figure.
