British womenswear designer, Charlie May, created her namesake label in 2011 where she showcased 10 looks for SS12 alongside a short fashion film. Following on from her first SS13 show, she has received industry recognition for her androgynous silhouettes and clean lines. The designer attributes her signature minimalistic aesthetic to her rural upbringing in Devon. Her use of natural fibres including silks, wools and leathers, in muted colour palettes enable her to focus on design and construction and as a result produce clean and wearable pieces. Saunton beach, Devon served as inspiration for Charlie May's SS15 collection with tones of taupe, ice blue, rubberised matt leather, indigo denims and crisp whites. The collections' subdued colour palette combined with sophisticated frayed detailing renders pieces light and youthful. Clean cuts and boxy silhouettes underpin Charlie May's style whilst printed illustrations by Clym Evernden evoke elements of the Devon coastline. The collection features drop-shouldered T-shirts, fitted cropped tops and loose-fit trousers all in carefully considered fabrics.
