    Marset Funiculí Floor Lamp
Design Lluis Porqueras, 1979. Lacquered iron, aluminum, rubber, black cord. Made in Spain by Marset. Funiculí is a new edition of a lamp designed in 1979. Lluís Porqueras has always sought an absolute simplicity in his designs, doing away with everything superfluous to leave the essence of the useful, simple object. 30 years on, Funiculí remains highly contemporary, both in its purist forms and in its features. The name Funiculí comes from the concept of a "funicular" action - moving up and down. The mechanism for raising and lowering the lamp uses a pair of clips which make the height of the shade adaptable to any user's needs. The shade itself can be rotated through 360º to point the beam of light wherever it is required. The base of Funiculí is covered in rubber on the bottom to avoid the cold contact between the metal and the floor while adding stability to the lamp. It is available in black, white, red, beige and moss grey. Funiculí s floor lamp: 53.1" h | base: 9.7" dia | shade: 7.2" dia. Requires 1X E26 type A19 100W or E26 CFL type T 20W bulb.

Design Mathias Hahn, 2010. Lacquered iron, solid oak, aluminum, black cord. Made in Spain by Marset. A combination of basic geometric shapes and the use of wood together with metal give this range of lamps a homely appearance, at the same time as a clearly defined personality. All of the movements of the fully rotating shade use arms and hinges, and its technical precision means that springs or counterweights are not necessary in order to maintain the selected position. Scantling is a term used to define the size to which a piece of wood or stone is measured and cut, derived from the name of an old unit of measurement. The interplay of the different elements used in its design gives this lamp an archetypal, almost graphic appearance. FontanaArte Cheshire Floor Lamp
Design Gamfratesi, 2013. Polycarbonate, metal, zamac. Made in Italy by FontanaArte. Cheshire is a family of table, floor and suspension lamps designed by the Danish/Italian duo GamFratesi. These two designers were inspired by Cheshire Cat for this lamp, the cat described by Carroll in Alice in Wonderland. The cat who follows Alice on her journey is often shown sitting down, waiting for something: this image led to the diffuser, with its curved shape and richly embossed finish. Cheshire definitely expresses the Nordic imprint of this studio, embracing simplicity and practicality, but it also has a strong ironic feel thanks precisely to the image of this cat. The diffuser is in polycarbonate. For the table and floor versions, it is opaque and diffuses light downwards, while the suspended version has a clear diffuser for an all-round diffusion of light. The lamp comes in three different colors: black, white and green. Elegant and contemporary, it is suited to both home and contract settings. 13.8" dia. | 57.1" h | requires 1x30W (opal shade) or 3x23W (colored shade) E26 fluorescent bulbs.

    Foscarini Aplomb Floor Lamp
Design Paolo Lucidi & Luca Pevere, 2013. Concrete, white lacquered metal. Made in Italy by Foscarini. The Aplomb project explores the technological and expressive possibilities of concrete, a rough yet at the same time appealing material, achieving a leap of scale and genre: from large contemporary architectural buildings to a small designer lamp. The challenge has been met with impeccable 'aplomb', thanks to the use of special concrete that is particularly fluid in molding and has a material effect that is both rough and, at the same time, elegant. Aplomb floor lamp is the newest addition to the family which creates direct, up-lighting. In its shape and use, Aplomb recalls a burning torch, to be grabbed and moved easily to where it is needed. Its light beam is an intense up-light, but it creates no glare because it is completely screened from view by the shape that encloses the light source. Paolo Lucidi and Luca Pevere got together at well-known design offices in Milan. In 2002 they signed their first commissions together and, in 2006, establish Studio Lucidi & Pevere in Milan. These days, Studio Lucidi & Pevere is based in Udine and still undertakes industrial design work for internationally renowned companies, belonging to a large number of different sectors. The concrete is offered in three, colored finishes which celebrate its personality, from the traditional grey of cement in its raw state, which adds depth to the volumes, to a stylish white hue, and a warm intense brown. The concrete rests on a white lacquered metal base. Perfect for private or public settings, either on its own or in a group. 70.9" h | shade: 4.3" w | 15.9" h | base: 12.5" w | 8" d | cord length: 86.5" L | on/off switch: 27.5" from lamp. Foscarini Stewie Floor Lamp
Design Luca Nichetto, 2012. Fabric coated polyethylene foam, lacquered metal. Made in Italy by Foscarini. Stewie introduces a new kind of light. The concept behind the project, whose name is derived from a famous cartoon, is the result of the careful observation of an object that has nothing to do with lighting design: a washbasin placed in an unusual location in their studio that has the air of a work by Duchamp. Its form is what inspired the idea to design a lamp that is innovative in terms of its form, its dimensions, and its positioning. By melding the study of the washbasin with an analysis of Japanese paper lamps, Nichetto came up with Stewie: a floor lamp whose illumination, which emanates from below but also radiates upward, puts the objects it illuminates "in a new light". Stewie can also be faced toward the wall in order to create a softer, more diffused light. The polymeric foam employed to make the lamp was carefully selected for specific characteristics, namely its lightness, its permeability to light, and its ability to be paired with fabric. Stewie is thus a shell whose light source is housed within a textile filling that filters the illumination. Stewie is offered in two color choices. 30.25" w | 10.25" d | 27" h | cord: 102" L | on/off switch: 43" from lamp. Requires 1x40W 2GX13 fluorescent bulb.

Design Gino Sarfatti, 1968. Painted aluminum, steel. Made in Italy by Flos. "Re-lighting" Sarfatti is a term used by Flos in the re-introduction of the first set of lamps designed by Gino Sarfatti. While his designs still appear incredibly contemporary in terms of their forms and the physical-psychological relationship with the user, this did not hold true from the perspective of lighting technology. Detracting nothing from the integrity of the lamps' original form, It was essential for Flos to bring these objects into the present day by adopting cutting-edge LED technology, which had to be introduced with the utmost sophistication yet without being invasive. Through a long and complex endeavor, the first set of lamps are once again available to light up our homes. During his work in the lighting sector, Gino Sarfatti set up Arteluce, which became an international reference point for the modern architectural lighting movement and also a meeting place and forum for many of the leading Italian designers of the 50's and 60's. He designed and produced over four hundred luminaries and conducted extensive research into the innovation and design aspects of lighting. The Mirror Ball is created by exploding a thin layer of pure metal onto the internal surface of a polycarbonate globe. A robust stainless steel stand to accompany a maximum of 6 mirror balls. The Mirror Balls are tightly held in place with industrial strength clamps. The Fat Spot Light was manufactured using a special vacuum metallization process which has been developed over a number of years by Tom Dixon in partnership with their factory. Foscarini Tuareg Floor Lamp
Design Ferruccio Laviani, 2014. Varnished aluminum, polycarbonate. Made in Italy by Foscarini. Tuareg's structure is inspired by man-made architecture which is nevertheless bound to the world of nature. It is chaos turned order, non-traditional geometry echoing a work of land art. By means of a complex industrialization process, this initial idea took the form of a three dimensional composition of aluminum tubes creating a spectacularly powerful graphic effect. LED light sources have been incorporated into the extremities of three of these elements which can be switched on and off separately and adjusted 360 degrees in order to vary the light effect and the lamps possible uses. The structure has been made even more minimalist by integrated touch switches and the system used to hide the power cable within tubular elements. A formal totem-like presence highlighted by the expressive power of the lamp's two color variants: a bright orange which echoes the industrial hues of anti-rust paints and black chrome which evokes precious metals. Like a sculptural decoration, Tuareg is the ideal centerpiece for an important reception space in both public and private rooms and in multiple compositions creating veritable light installations too. 44.1" w | 30.6" d | 82.6" h | includes 50, 4W LED bulbs | 3000K | 3750 lumen. Those who are drawn to functional objects with an essential design will be charmed by magneto, a lamp featuring an invisible power: the magnetic field of a magnet. Indeed, the project focuses on a spherical magnet which combines two simple elements: a support rod with a round base and a compact led light source, similar. To an electric torch or a microphone, affording the utmost versatility of angling and movement along the rod. Magneto teams the flexibility of a lamp suitable for infinite solutions with absolute formal and functional simplicity. Foscarini Rock Floor Lamp
Design Diesel Living by Foscarini, 2010. Polycarbonate, lacquered metal. Made in Italy by Foscarini. Like a volcanic rock that, when broken apart, reveals a jewel within, Rock is an interplay of surprises and contrasts. Mysterious and severe outside, diamond-bright and iridescent inside. Outside, the dark version is rough with a scattering of golden motes, whilst inside, it shimmers, smooth and mother of pearl-covered. The white version assumes a new personality to fit in with each different use, a precious stone that highlights in particular its asymmetric facets, evolved according to a casual logic. They reflect the light's rays in the internal surface as in a crystal, producing a surprising and unforgettable effect. This is an object that does not go unnoticed from any point of view. Made of lacquered polycarbonate, it's available in suspension and floor versions in brown and white. In its suspension version the light is focused on the space below, while in the floor version, with its surprising proportions, it allows you to direct the light beam, which can be used for reading or to project the light upwards or onto a wall. 16.5" dia. | 71.9" h | requires 1x23W E26 fluorescent.

    Moooi Emperor Floor Lamp
Design Neri&Hu, 2009. Bamboo rattan cage, aluminum, glass, steel. Made in The Netherlands by Moooi. This oversized light was inspired by a made-believe folklore story of an Asian emperor & a beautiful nightingale…Once upon a time an Asian emperor was given a nightingale as a gift. The bird was so beautiful and sang in such a bewitching way that the emperor fell immediately in love with it and decided to keep it forever by his side. So the nightingale was put in a beautiful, majestic cage in the imperial chambers & became the delight of the emperor's days…Neri & Hu took on a modern translation of this story and produced a collection of pendant/floor/table lamps in stained woven bamboo. The poetics of an emperor's life, a life no longer relevant in today's world, can be abstracted in the form of an object such as the light. The use of hand-crafted bamboo weaving in an industrial product creates an elegant yet uncanny design statement. A lamp so particular & majestic that it could become your personal nightingale…forever by your side to brighten up your days. The Emperor collection includes suspension, floor and table lamps. They are offered with a glass diffuser that creates a very warm glow of light. Each cage is woven by hand and therefore has a unique character. In-line floor dimmer included. 70.9" h | shade: 20.9" dia. | requires 1x60W G9 halogen bulb. Not UL listed, though suitable for US/CA market.

Louis Poulsen Ph 3.5/2.5 Floor Lamp
Design Poul Henningsen, 1927. White opal glass, chrome plated. Made in Denmark by Louis Poulsen. "...it is an art to make light both economical and glare free." -Poul Henningsen. PH 3.5-2.5 floor lamp is a member of the of the PH 3-shade family principles, which were developed in the winter of 1925-26 for a large exhibition hall in Copenhagen, Denmark called "Forum". The combination of diffused reflection and a logarithmic shade curve gave PH the opportunity to control a fixture's glare and shading, as each shade would evenly decrease the amount of light emitted according to their distance from the bulb. The PH lamps were designed as a rational lighting system where the size of the shade, its material, and its surfaces could be combined mutually according to the nature of the assignment. The PH3-shade system started out as a pendant solution but very quickly it also developed into other kinds of fixtures and chandeliers. Poul Henningson's lifelong collaboration with Louis Poulsen Lighting began in 1925 and lasted until his death. To this day, Louis Poulsen Lighting still benefits from his genius. Poul Henningsen's pioneering work concerning the relations between light structures, shadows, glare, and color reproduction-compared to man's need for light remains the foundation of the lighting theories still practiced by Louis Poulsen Lighting. PH 3.5-2.5 floor lamp provides a primarily upward illumination. It is based on the principle of a reflecting multi-shade system, creating a harmonious and glare free illumination. All handblown opal glass shades are sandblasted on the undersides for uniform light distribution. 51.2" h | 13" dia. | requires 1x100W /A-19 /IF medium bulb.

    Flos Arco Floor Lamp
Design Achille & Pierre Giacomo Castiglioni, 1962. Marble, stainless steel, aluminum. Made in Italy by Flos. A street light inspired the iconic "Arco", a suspension lamp that sits on the floor on an extremely heavy marble base. The hole in the base is to insert a sturdy broomstick for carrying. Castiglioni once said of the base: "Our first idea was concrete, but we chose marble because it gave us the same weight in a smaller volume and a better finish for a lower cost. Nothing in Arco is decorative. Even the bevelled corners of the base are functional, they avoid sharp angles, which could be dangerous." Castiglioni designed Arco exclusively for flos and has been in continuous production since 1962. Achille Castiglioni's imaginative forms and simplistic designs have made him one of the most influential figures in Italian design. His works are represented in museums all over the world.
