    dwr.com
Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand LC3 Grand Modele Armchair – Chrome Frame/Blk Leather
The Le Corbusier group referred to their LC2 and LC3 collections (1928) as "cushion baskets," which they designed as a modernist response to the traditional club chair. These pieces reverse the standard structures of sofas and chairs by having frames that are externalized. With thick, resilient pillows resting within the steel frames, the idea was to offer all the comfort of a padded surface while applying the elegant minimalism and industrial rationale of the International Style. The color-saturated frames and fabrics were chosen from the color palettes or "color keyboards" that Le Corbusier developed in the 1930s and 1950s. Each color was chosen for its spatial and physiological effects, and Corbu's palettes allow each hue to match the others -go ahead and pair any fabric with any frame. Each piece is signed and numbered and, as a product of Cassina's Masters Collection, is manufactured by Cassina under exclusive worldwide license from the Le Corbusier Foundation. Made in Italy. The differences among the collections are that the LC2 is more compactly scaled, and the LC3 has the option of either down- or Dacron-wrapped cushions. This piece is available in leather upholstery with a chrome frame or a choice of three fabrics with seven different frame colors. In the fabric pull-down menus below, the frame color is listed first. See "additional views" for frame and fabric swatches.

Legs are hand finished solid wood. The Drop In lounge chair includes one large & one small back cushion. Charles Pfister Pfister Lounge Chair
Charles Pfister was our kind of modernist. “There is a movement away from throw-away society, away from disposable possessions,” said Pfister. “Instead, there is a mounting interest in useful, sculptural, wonderfully constructed objects.” His lounge collection (1971) is both sculptural and wonderfully constructed, embodying his intent to design items that display “opulence without waste.” Pfister was based in San Francisco (another reason we’re fans) and had a measurable effect on the world of corporate interiors in the late 20th century. Looking at his timeless namesake collection, it’s easy to see why. Manufactured by Knoll according to the original and exacting specifications of the designer. Made in U.S.A. The Lounge Chair’s clean, tailored aesthetic makes it a smart choice for many commercial or residential settings. Short, inset legs give the Lounge Chair the appearance of floating slightly over the floor. Heirloom quality: the Pfister Collection features meticulous construction, timeless lines and high-quality leather upholstery. Charles Pfister was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 1986.

Design Charles Pollock, 2012. Steel frame, upholstery. Made in USA by Bernhardt Design. In 2012, the 82-year-old Charles Pollock introduced his first new product in America since the debut of his iconic Pollock Chair forty-seven years earlier. Likened by the iconic designer to a classic Jaguar sports car, the CP Lounge chair blends a sleek, aerodynamic stainless steel frame with a luxurious natural leather seat and exquisite craftsmanship to create a truly timeless functional piece of art. The CP lounge is available with either a classic hand-quilted seat reminiscent of vintage car upholstery, or with a streamlined contemporary seat with distinctive stitched-line detailing. Pollock's designs were governed by two principles. Creatively, he favored a continuous curved line when sketching ideas and creating forms. The second principle was that any product must be visually attractive, functional, and affordable. His designs were technically advanced, yet easy to manufacture at a reasonable price. Pollock is the recipient of numerous awards and his work is exhibited in many museums around the world. CP1 lounge chair features a polished stainless steel frame and a hand-quilted seat and back with a looped stitched cording tracing the perimeter of the chair. It is available in your choice of a variety of felt and leather upholstery options. You may select a contrasting looped stitching color from the selection provided, or Bernhardt Design will select the color that best matches the felt/leather selection. 27" W | 33.25" d | 28.5" h | seat: 16.4" h.

In 1955 while filming on location, director Billy Wilder discovered he could take quick naps on a plank held up by sawhorses. The Eameses remembered that conversation and in 1968 introduced the Eames chaise, giving the first one to Wilder. It has been produced by Herman Miller ever since. With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Vitra - Miniature Big Easy Chair
In 1988 and 1989, Arad’s London »One Off« work shop created an entire series of »Big Easy« armchairs using bent sheet steel welded at the edges. The »Big Easys« were brought out as individual items or small limited series; they all had a striking basic form and inflated arms reminiscent of comics – but they differed in terms of the welding and color. In the course of time, the initially oarse, roughly welded »Big Easys« went through changes, first becoming colorful lacquered chairs with smooth surfaces and then elegant versions made of polished stainless steel. Although Ron Arad’s furniture are variants on everyday things, they seem strange and irritate the eye – not only owing to the choice of material. Formally and functionally speaking, they undermine customary assumptions. You feel you have to first learn how to use them. A »Big Easy’s« voluminous steel body of the »Big Easy« resembles a traditional upholstered club armchair but can hardly be associated with a sense of comfortable interiors. Ron Arad considered it an art object that could likewise be functional, but was not intended to be particularly practical. The original of the Big Easy Chair was designed by Ron Arad in 1988 and it is produced as 1:1 model by Vitra AG, Basel/Switzerland, since 1998. The here offered miniature by Vitra (scale 1:6) consists of blackened stainless steel sheet metal.

Shortly before Finn Juhl became a world-renowned name, he was a self-taught furniture designer and trained architect who had just opened his own office. Working in collaboration with master cabinetmaker Niels Vodder, the pair was the buzz of the 1945 Cabinetmakers’ Guild exhibition with their expressive, sculptural pieces. One such item was the Model 45 Armchair (1945), which broke from tradition by freeing the upholstered areas from the wood frame. With the Model 45, Juhl refined the type of easy chair that he had been working on for many years; creating the type of elegant, tantalizing expression for which this designer is still without rival. This original is an authentic, fully licensed product of Onecollection, House of Finn Juhl™. Made in Denmark. Finn Juhl made his U.S. debut in 1951, at the “Good Design” exhibit in Chicago and at MoMA in New York. When Juhl was 39, he was the architect appointed to represent Denmark in creating the interior of a meeting hall at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Pollock is the recipient of numerous awards and his work is exhibited in many museums around the world. Design Hans Wegner, 1960. Solid beech frame, upholstery, metal legs. Made in Denmark by Carl Hansen & Son. "Being able to change positions in a chair has always been a foundation of Wegner's ergonomics; designing a chair that combines form and function so beautifully is Wegner's genius." -Knud Erik Hansen. In 1960, Danish design legend Hans J. Wegner sketched an upholstered easy chair with calm, clean lines and exceptional functionality. This chair was never put into series production until now. The CH445's look is unmistakably Wegner. Like his other easy chairs, sculptural lines allow it to stand on its own in a variety of settings. Among Wegner's easy chairs, the CH445 is notable for the serenity and harmony of its design. While the CH445 is a work of art, it is made for sitting not just for looking, and it greets its guests with exceptionally generous comfort. Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk Raleigh Armchair in Leather
Raleigh (2009) is a comfortable, modern collection that draws from mid-century Danish design. Wrapping around the back of this Sofa is a solid walnut frame (be sure to click on Additional Views to see it) that brings visual lightness and satisfying aesthetic tension to the design. There's also a very functional reason for the way that this frame triangulates to the back of the Sofa. Namely, that it permits a gracefully canted and ergonomic seatback while still solidly supporting you as you relax and unwind. DWR Design Studio chose to work with Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk on this project because of the importance they place on people – how they move, interact, live, and most of all, sit. Made in U.S.A. Best of Year! The Raleigh Collection received Interior Design magazine's top honor for 2010 in the residential lounge category. The angled, high back comfortably supports your upper body. Visible from the side and back, this Sofa is cradled in a solid walnut frame. Down-blend filled back cushions have removable covers for cleaning.

Technology and research made it possible for Kartell to mass produce what was traditionally handmade. Bubble Club is a roomy armchair, characterized by the soft line of its armrests, in contrast with the more rational lines of the backrest. This is a minimalist silhouette, reminiscent of the lines of "granny's sofa." Along with the couch and the small table, produced with the same finish and colors, Bubble Club Armchair is now a complete family, nothing less than an "industrial living-room." Thanks to their exceptional weather resistance, all three members of the Bubble Club family can survive perfectly outdoors and are ideal for furnishing gardens, pool sides and patios.

Technology and media are ubiquitous. Chiara lounge chair is a refuge from our overstimulated world," says Duchaufour-Lawrance. As a modern lounge piece, Chiara's generous open seat swivels and allows you to use the chair in different ways. Chiara is meant to adjust to your needs, rather than dictate how it is to be used. In a world screaming for our attention, Chiara stands out with its invitation to rest, listen and reflect. Albert Sectional Chaise Left in Sierra Leather
A reason we often hear for not choosing a sectional is that it won't fit, to which we say: "Have you seen the Albert Collection?" With a compact scale for space-conscious homes, each Albert component stands on a surprisingly small footprint and can be configured to fit your space. Use the Albert Sectional Chaise (2008) as it is, or expand it with additional components, like the Albert Single Seater (a locking mechanism firmly holds the pieces together). The Albert Collection's comfortable back cushions and armrests pamper, while firm foam seat cushions provide just the right amount of support. To maintain a clean look, the back cushions are attached to the frame with zippers, and the leather upholstery is applied to the structure using a fixed slipcover technique. This technique gives the Albert Collection its straight seams and crisp appearance from all angles. The full top-grain, semi-aniline leather upholstery is easy to maintain and will withstand heavy use, even in homes with children and pets. The reinforced frames are built for durability, and come with a lifetime warranty. Still wondering if it will fit? Visit a DWR Studio for help from one of our design experts. To order swatches,

    Hans J. Wegner Easy Chair
“A chair is to have no backside,” said Hans J. Wegner. “It should be beautiful from all sides and angles.” Sculptural and balanced, his Easy Chair (1950) embodies this maxim, a classic example of the “organic functionalism” for which he is famous. Its natural elegance is exemplified by the paper cord that creates the seat and back – more than 1300 feet of cord is used on each chair. Handwoven by a skilled craftsperson, it’s a process that takes eight to 10 hours. The solid oak frame has fluid lines and exacting joinery, which is expertly assembled and requires no hardware. Relaxed and intuitively ergonomic, the Easy Chair is just that – a seat that can easily blend with modern or traditional interiors, in nearly any room in the house. Made in Denmark.

    Wave Lounge Chair By Manulution
The Wave Lounge Chair is representative of Manulution's design direction, exploiting the abstract transformation of traditional craftsmanship into unique and authentic products of modern design. The Wave is designed as a seating piece of unified composition with seat and backrest made in solid and locally sourced Bosnian hardwoods. The stainless steel base enhances the product's light modernist appearance. The sculptural form of the Wave render it an ideal piece for lounges as well as homes. The Wave Lounge Chair is a part of the Wave Collection, that also includes: Wave Dining Table , Wave Dining Chair and Wave Cabinet. Manulution buys walnut and cherry logs from private orchards throughout Bosnia. These are trunks of old trees, which are cut when their productive life of fruit bearing is over and need to be replaced by new ones. They are bought directly from villagers, often in very small quantities, whenever it is offered. Other hardwoods (i.e. maple, oak, elm, and ash) are sourced from public forestry companies, the management of which has vastly improved in recent years. The forest certification process has started and several forests are FSC certified. There is also concrete evidence that forests are exploited sustainably. A recent forestry inventory (financed and supported by the World Bank) has shown that Bosnia's forest volume has increased significantly since the last inventory was conducted in 1960s. In fact, the study indicated that Bosnia, ostensibly, has more trees per capita than any country in Europe or Central Asia.

    George Nelson Nelson Coconut Chair
George Nelson once said that "total design is nothing more or less than a process of relating everything to everything." So it makes perfect sense that, in 1955, Nelson related a lounge chair to a coconut. Intended to combine comfort with freedom of movement, the shape of the Coconut Chair's white molded shell was inspired by the shape of Eero Saarinen's Kresge Auditorium at MIT. Echoing both the auditorium's triangular shape, as well as a portion of coconut shell, the Chair's unique form invites a number of different seating positions. The shell sits upon a chromed-steel base with three thin legs. A single-piece foam cushion, upholstered in high-quality semi-aniline leather, is molded into the shell. This product is manufactured by Vitra and distributed by Herman Miller, Inc. Nelson is a trademark of Herman Miller, Inc.
