"Nathan Meets Hannah"
I woke up and looked around.
Blake was sitting right next to me.
I gave him a wee kiss and smiled.
He was my wee cat and nothing could replace him.
I went to the bathroom and done my routine.
Finally, I got dressed and went downstairs for breakfast.
"Hey! That's mine! Mum! Tell Her something!" I could hear Aria shouting from the stairs.
"Rikkie! Be the mature one and give Aria her bracelet back." said mum.
I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bawl, milk and some cereal.
"So, Nathan... What are your plans for this summer?" asked mum.
"I wanna start surfing again. I miss it. I miss the guys and the challenge." I said, eating my breakfast.
"Well, that's good. If that's what you really want, I'll be willing to pay for it, but you need to do your best. No girl trouble like last summer, understand?" asked mum, pointing at me.
I nodded and finished eating.
Then I grabbed my surfboard and went out.
Mum didn't really understand.
She doesn't get it.
It wasn't really girl trouble.
Last summer I met this girl.
Her name was Hannah.
When she was leaving, I never knew.
I just saw her leaving my competition.
I loved her, so I did what I was meant to do.
I went after her, but she needed to leave anyway.
So, I lost the competition and got kicked off the team.
But this year, I'm allowed to go back.
"Hey Nath!" I heard a familiar voice.
I turned round and saw my old mate Glen.
"Hey. Glen, what's up?" i said while we did our old handshake.
"Nothing much... But I've got news bro." He said with a smile.
"What is it?"
"Guess who's coming back this summer?"
My smile faded. "It's not Sharks, right? They're hard competition..."
He shook his head.
Hannah was coming back this year?
I mean, it's a good thing, right?
Well... I don't know.
We haven't really spoke and I think she might have moved on.
I still have feelings for her.
I couldn't forget about her after that summer.
"I'm away... Imma go get some ice cream." said Glen awkwardly.
"Hey Nathan..." No way...
I turned round and there she was.
Beautiful as ever.
"Hannah?" I smiled and hugged her.
"Long time so see, huh?" asked Hannah, hugging back.
"Very. How have you been?"
"I've been better, but hey, summer has just began. I'm sure it will get better than that... You still on the team?" she asked.
"Nope... But I'm planning on coming back this year, as in now. Practice starts on monday."
"Cool... So, how's your family?"
"Constantly arguing." I said smiling.
"Just as I remember." She said with a smile.
"Hannah!" I turned round and saw a guy.
Tanned and definitely a surfer.
"Oh, Nathan, this is my boyfriend Jacob." she said smiling.
The guy walked over and kissed her.
"Hey Nathan. Hannah told me so much about you." He said smiling.
I shook his hand and faked a smile.
She has moved on.
"Well, It was really nice meeting you, but I really need to go. Need to go back to the old habit of surfing." I smiled and waved bye at them.
I was so screwed.
And what hurt the most?
She moved on and came back, but not as herself anymore.
I knew Hannah too well, and that Jacob guy was totally off her list...
Aw well, I guess people change.
