you'll need;
- 2 1/3 cups of all purpose flour
- 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp of baking soda
- 12 tbsp of unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 cups of firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 tsp of vanilla extract
- 4 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups of buttermilk
- 1 3/4 cups and 2 tbsp of whipping cream
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
- 6 tbsp of oreo cookie crumbs
- 24 oreo cookie halves

** makes 24 cupcakes **

- preheat the oven to 350F, line 2 cupcake pans with cupcake liners.
- in a bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside. 
- beat the butter with an electric mixer until smooth. gradually add the brown sugar and keep beating until fluffy. beat in the vanilla. add the eggs one at a time.
- add the flour gradually, beating it on low speed, adding buttermilk also, add until smooth mixture.
- divide the batter into the cupcake pans, bake for about 18-20 minutes, or when you add a toothpick in the middle and it comes out clean. 
- make sure you let cool before you ice the cupcakes or the icing will melt, and do not put in the fridge to cool.
- to make the oreo frosting, beat the whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla extract, with an electric mixer, gently add the cookie crumbs while mixing on low speed.
- ice the cupcakes with the oreo icing and put an oreo half ontop.
