Bubble silk dress with petal-effect pleated back. Round neckline, sleeveless. V cutout back with concealed zipper. For his eagerly awaited debut collection at Dior, new creative director Raf Simons explored the concept of freedom, a founding pillar of the Christian Dior’s aesthetics and his desire to free women from the austere war-time style. Controlled volumes heightened by a touch of asymmetry, noble draping, flashes of acid colors and iridescent fabrics, for an impeccable, meticulously styled silhouette. Adding his voice to the debate on the relation between heritage and innovation, the Belgian designer gave a contemporary spin to the house codes: tailored tuxedos, sculpted pleated dresses, draped tops and a reinterpretation of the iconic Bar jacket. The collection offered a perfect combination of contemporary minimalism with the house couture vibe, for a sensitive and realistic luxury that should add to the Dior legacy.
