    An enclosed structure over the Rio di Palazzo in Venice, the Bridge of Sighs originally served as a walkway between the interrogation rooms in Doge's Palace to the New Prison. Lord Byron named the bridge in the 19th century, implying that the picturesque view from its barred windows might be the convict's last – hence a lyrical sigh. The Ponte dei Sospiri (Bridge of Sighs) was designed by Antonio Contino and built of white limestone in 1600. Contemporary photograph by Joseph Eta. It features two images – the sun before the eclipse and the sun during the full eclipse, showcasing the flared corona. The print's grainy, high-contrast texture and velvety medium capture the mystery and awe-inspiring beauty of this significant astronomical event. A total solar eclipse that occurred on August 7, 1869, and could be seen from eastern Russia to the United States. Restored from a chromolithograph printed in Germany in 1894.     On the map. Los Angeles navigates a graphic love letter to the City of Angels in a hand-inked original design. In a time-intensive process that takes approximately 12 hours, artist Dan Elliott cuts stencils and applies ink to reveal the words "Robust American Love" and "Los Angeles." Each unique piece is made using a vintage map of the city. In urban graffiti style, the text speaks to romanticized notions of California, especially Los Angeles, where Elliott imagines to be "always warm, always perfect, everyone always beautiful and always on the beach". Dan elliott. Artist Dan Elliott explores letterpress printing and mixed media to create designs that he describes in contradictory terms: Clean and messy, clear and abstract, simple and complex. Based in North Carolina, Elliott's work is largely influenced by the history of art and graphic design—from the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th-century and avant-garde styles of the early 20th-century to Gutenberg's first moveable type press.     Celebrated architect Daniel Burnham's triangular skyscraper – nicknamed for its resemblance to a cast-iron clothes iron – has been a New York City icon since 1902. Innovative for its time, the tower was one of the first to use a steel skeleton, allowing it to reach a then-soaring height of 21 stories. Vintage photograph shows the Flatiron Building in 1910. Originally called the Fuller Building, the Flatiron is located on 5th Avenue in Manhattan and now anchors the Flatiron District. The building was declared a New York City Landmark in 1966.
