  • Vitra Place Sofa - 3 Seater
    hivemodern.com
Design Jasper Morrison, 2008. Metal frame, wood structure, polyurethane foam. Made in Germany by Vitra. Place sofa is Jasper Morrison's interpretation of what is now a modern classic sofa type. A low lounge sofa with a decidedly horizontal thrust. With carefully chosen proportions, much comfort and no decorative frills, Place sofa offers the key features in the purest of condensed form. Voluminous, slightly rounded cushions with soft fabric or leather covers invite you to lounge on Place sofa, and the high-grade inner workings ensure enduring comfortable seating. Thanks to its modular structure, the Place sofa's shape can be defined personally and changed at any time. With Place sofa, Jasper Morrison has successfully coupled the typical informal feel of this type of sofa with highly precise finishing and great expressive clarity, and thus renewed the typology firmly in line with his philosophy of supernormal design. Born in London, Jasper Morrison studied design at the Royal College of Art and at the HdK in Berlin. Editor of the Design Year Book in 1999 with a passion for the history of design. Morrison's objects provide a quiet contrast to the creative exuberance of the Eighties. The visual restraint, high functionalism and constructive simplicity attract attention to his work. Place sofa is available in a variety of configurations and sizes. The 3-seater includes one center element, one left & one right side element with three pillows in matching upholstery as pictured. Other configurations available, please call for details. 3-seater: 27.5" h | 130" w | 37.5" d | seat: 15.25" h.
  • Fritz Hansen Kaiser Idell Luxus Floor Lamp
    hivemodern.com
Design Christian Dell, 1931. Steel & brass. Made in Denmark by Fritz Hansen. The Kaiser idell™ collection is available in different versions: Table, wall, floor lamps and pendants. Kaiser idell is an original Bauhaus design. The series is based on a world-patented swivel joint and the characteristic dome embossed with "ORIGINAL KAISER-idell". Beginning in 1926 Dell sketched lights, often for the lamp factory Gebr. Kaiser & Co. The first catalogue was launched in 1936 in which the table lamp model 6631 Luxus appeared for the first time. This lamp soon became the undisputed top model of the KAISER idell™ series - then, as well as today, the symbol of noble Germanic design, exquisite choice of materials and precise engineering. Christian Dell was a German silversmith and designer. From 1922-25 he worked as foreman of the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar where he was the man behind a highly innovative and pioneering style of design. The Bauhaus occupies a place of its own in the history of the 20th century culture; architecture, design, art and new media. As one of the first colleges of design, it brought together a number of the most outstanding contemporary architects and artists. The lamps are made in steel and brass and the lampshades are hand painted in high gloss. The chrome-plated lamp elements consist of hand polished and silver-soldered brass. • Christian Dell Kaiser-idell Luxus Floor Lamp
    dwr.com
German silversmith Christian Dell was a metalworking teacher at the Bauhaus from 1922–25. Collaborating with modernist luminaries László Moholy-Nagy and Marianne Brandt, Dell helped shape the Bauhaus approach to industrial lighting. He started designing lighting for various companies in 1926, including Gebrüder Kaiser & Co., the one that produced the first lamp in the Kaiser-idell Collection (1931). With the first part of the name being for the factory that produced it, the latter is an amalgam of Dell and idee , the German word for “idea.” Brought back into production by Fritz Hansen in 2011, the collection is crafted to the designer’s original specifications, including his worldwide-patented swivel joint for shade adjustability – revolutionary in 1931. Bulb (not included): incandescent 60W/A19/E27, halogen energy saver 28–52W or comparable CFL/LED. This is an authentic collection by Fritz Hansen. • Vitra Alcove Highback Sofa
    hivemodern.com
Design Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2008. Chromed steel, metal frame, fiberglass reinforced plastic, polyurethane foam, polyester wool. Made in Germany by Vitra. The central idea behind the Alcove sofa is that a sofa can be much more than just a piece of furniture. This is especially true of the Alcove Highback sofa, whose side and back panels tower over the heads of those sitting in it. Sitting within the Alcove Highback, you cannot be seen or heard from the outside, and find yourself in a secluded space. Thanks to the outstanding acoustic qualities of the Alcove Highback sofa and its function as a visual screen, it creates a truly peaceful oasis - especially in spacious living areas. This effect is even more pronounced when two sofas are positioned face to face, thereby defining a room within a room. The Alcove Ottoman is a comfortable complement. The two brothers, Ronan and Erwan, have been working together since 1999. Their collaboration is a constant dialogue, nourished by their single identities and strived towards a common goal. Today, the Bouroullec brothers work with numerous manufacturers such as Vitra, Cappellini, Issey Miyake, Magis, Ligne Roset, Habitat and the Kréo Gallery. They were named ?"Creator of the Year" in 2002, elected ?"designer of the year" in 2003 and have won multiple other awards. Their creations have been exhibited in many collective or solo exhibitions and are part of some permanent museum collections around the world. The Alcove Highback love seat includes one matching backrest cushion. Optional set of 2 armrest & 1 small backrest cushions also available. love seat: 53.5" h | 49.75" L | 33" d.
