Natural light. Beautiful color combo captures the delicate relationship between light and nature. Artist Caroline Wright abstracts the color and motion of a late summer sunset, originally rendered in acrylic and flashe on watercolor paper and digitally replicated here on canvas. Originally painted during an artist residency in Woodstock, NY, the piece was inspired by the thick forest and how "the sunsets were little bursts of pink through the trees. When I got back to Austin at the end of the summer, I started to think about the changing light at that time of year." caroline wright. Based in Austin, artist draws inspiration from a broad range of subjects —textiles, music, even other artists, but her number one influence is nature. "Taking walks and looking at things without trying to edit or narrate what I see. My paintings are based in landscape, but expressed through movement, rhythm and music." Resulting in visceral pieces that are closer to what nature feels like rather than how it looks. CB2 Edition LMTD: CB2 Edition LMTD original works are offered one time only in small reserve. • Pre-owned Marilyn on the Beach
    therealreal.com
Comparable piece sold at auction on October 2014 for $4,750 This image of Marilyn Monroe wrapping herself in a towel on a windy beach comes from the George Barris’ series Marilyn: The Last Photos. The series was taken in 1962 when Marilyn met with her good friend, photographer George Barris to shoot images for an autobiography, Marilyn: Her Life In Her Own Words. In this incredible series of photographs, Marilyn is charismatic and carefree - the effervescent personality that established her as a Hollywood icon. Barris in particular remembers her authenticity - 'what I like about Marilyn was that she didn't act like a movie star.' However, just two weeks after their last shoot, Marilyn passed away, and struck with loss of his good friend, Barris scrapped plans for the book. It was not until several years later that Barris published the photos, giving the world a last glimpse of Marilyn. Printed by Weston Editions in 1987.

  • Crate & Barrel Stacks 12 Print
    crateandbarrel.com
This intriguing drawing is part of series Julie S. Graham created in response to the view outside her studio. Maintaining a studio in an industrial area of Boston, Graham became fascinated with the contrast between the organic forms found in nature and the geometric order of the manmade environment. In her delicately sketched and subtly colored drawing, she juxtaposes orderly stacks of upright rectangles and squares rectangles with a spindly stretch of fine lines, grass-like hatchings and a spill of horizontal bands. Each giclée reproduction of the original is presented in a double white mat and framed in a clean matte black wood frame.
