  • UO DIY Decorating with Instax
    More info
This holiday, deck the halls with your favorite friends and memories. See our DIY tutorials on decorating with Instax film, so the season can be as personalized as possible. If you're dying to get your hands on your very own Instax camera, then you're in luck! We're throwing a contest with Fujifilm and one winner will get (drumroll, please): a $500 UO gift card, one Instax Smartphone Printer and two boxes of Instax Mini Film. Everything you need to get your instant photo DIY dreams off the ground. If you'd like to enter, you must follow Urban Outfitters on Instagram and post an image to your account showing how you decorate using photographs. (U.S. residents only, please!) Make sure to include the hashtags #UOInstaxagram and #UOContest in the caption field or your entry won't be counted! Contest runs from 11/16-12/14, so get snapping! For more details click here. Instax Place Settings For a completely personalized place setting, use Instax photos of your friends as their place settings. If you have the Instax printer, you can print these out ahead of time, but it's also fun to set up a photoshoot station at your next party and snap your guests on their way in. This gives your table a cute personalized touch and also gives your guest a fun memory of the night to take home. Instax Tree If your apartment or dorm doesn't have the space for a regular, real tree, then one that hangs on the wall is the next best thing. For this DIY, we used the Instax printer to print out a photo of a pine tree. While it may look complicated, it's actually pretty simple (just time consuming). All you need to do is find a photo of a tree you like and then manually crop it into Instax-able sized portions. This one took a lot of Instax film, but using a smaller template means less photos. If you don't have the patience for cropping, another fun (and personal!) way to make a wall tree is by arranging photos you already have into the shape of a tree. Simply outline a triangle on your wall and fit your photos in wherever you'd like. The easiest way to hang them up is with double-sided tape: easy to apply, easy to remove, and generally leaves walls mark-free. To ramp up the Christmas spirit, hang string lights around your final product. Insta-tree! Instax-inspired String Lights For a more personal touch on classic string lights, we hung up Instax photos of our favorite moments to help make them stand out a little more. For this DIY, all you need are a couple sets of string lights (we used these), an assortment of photos, and mini clothespins. To hang the string lights, we wrapped the wire around nails, but if you're unable to put so many deep holes in your walls thumbtacks work just as well and leave less of a mark. Once your string lights are hung up, all you need to do is hang your photos where you want them. It's that easy! This is easy to do in the bedroom or living, and gives your room that cozy glow that makes the holidays feel that much more magical. • Tumblr Tuesday Theo Gosselin
    More info
We’re always scouring Tumblr for up-and-coming artists, photographers and interesting people to follow. On Tumblr Tuesdays we dig a little deeper, introducing you to a new person whose point-of-view we’re reblogging this week. After stumbling across photographer Theo Gosselin on Instagram, we immediately rushed to Tumblr to check out his pictures there, too, because we were blown away by everything we saw. (Seriously, we want to crawl inside his pictures and live there.) Although the artist makes his home in France, he's constantly on the road, producing intimate shots of his travels that have a decidedly Americana feel. We reached out to Theo to find a little bit more about his life and to find out what photography means to him. How did you get into photography? I started taking pictures when I was in high school, simple photographs of my friends playing music (like punk rock and hardcore), drinking beers, skateboarding, things like that. At first it was just for memories, to remember good times spent with the people I love, and then time after time I just tried to take better pictures; good frames, nice colors, digital and analog. And now I'm still doing the same. I just want to capture every beautiful moment of my life. We love your outdoorsy photos. Where's the most interesting location you've shot in? Oh, thank you! I don't have favorite places, I just love to be on the road and to wake up every morning in different places. I love the ocean, the mountains, desert... American landscapes in general are very inspiring and beautiful. I feel like I'm living in a movie or in a book. What do you like to do when you're home for the holidays? I don't really have holidays. I spend most of my time traveling for work and for my personal pictures. But when I come back home, I just want to spend time with my love. I love cooking with her, I love watching movies, and of course playing music and organizing my pictures. What Tumblrs do you think everyone should be following? 1. If You Leave 2. Man & Camera 3. Chambres Avec Vues - fresh and inspiring. Tell us some things you're currently interested in! Love. Planning my next trip with the girl of my life. Next year, we want to travel across the USA and take pictures of our adventures. Follow Theo on Tumblr and Instagram
