Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler
(this song is featured in the book =) )
Wanted to publish this a long time ago, but couldn't get around it. It's inspired by the amazing book Silver Linings Playbook. See my review below :)
Oh and the Imagine Dragons concert is very near guys! I'm so excited!!
I wanted to see Silver Linings Playbook The Movie pretty bad, but it wasn't in theatres and I refused to watch it online. It seemed like the whole universe had seen the movie already. So by lack of my Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper fulfilment I started to read the book.
And I'm glad I did.
I had absolutely no expectations of this book, which is a good thing because it would surprise me. And boy, it did. Despite the heavy subject it was funny and upbeat. I loved how Pat would say "I am practicing being kind over being right" and how he regarded his life like a movie. The part when he decides to roll the credits is beautiful. Pat's search for the Silver Lining is an adventure with highs and lows. For me one of the highs were the discussions about the classic English Literature works, what he liked about them, or rather, didn't like. There are so many aspects I loved and found very fitting, relatable and real, too much to mention and discuss. Everything about this book felt real, like it could be happening across the street.
The perspective of Pat is somewhat subjective to say at least, but it gives the reader such an interesting view and an adventure, that it's sad to say goodbye to Pat at the end of the story. I sympathized very much with Pat, Tiffany on the other hand is much more complex. She deals with her situation in a different way. It's beautiful how these two people find eachother in their rehablitation of reality.
Though this book reads like a light feather, it has wonderful and valuable life lessons on heavy topics and is a true inspiration for positivity. Always look for the Silver Lining, it may occur in a different form than you expected but don't give up. Never.
I only hope the movie will be somewhat true to this book and capture the feeling of the book. I never expected I would love this book as much as I do.
