Chapter 1: Stuck in Hell, not Heaven
"And here is your room" the girl said, opening the door before me. "If you need anything, doesn't hesitate to ask. My name is Yurim" she said polietly.
"Oh...thanks" I mumbled. She smiled once more before closing the door behind her as she left my room. I glanced around the room once more before collapsing on the bed. I huffed and felt myself pout. This wasn't where I wanted to be.
I sat up and looked over to my left, and out the window to see a beautiful view of the beach from the Pension window. A lot of kids and teenagers were outside playing, as well as parents sitting under their colorful umbrellas.
Here I was.
Stuck in Paradise.
"Ri Ah! Come here!" My mother called. I walked over to where my parents were sitting next to the pool.
"De umma" I answered.
"What are you doing with that jacket still on? We are not in the city darling, it's going to be bright and sunny all month long here" she lectured. I shrugged in my black hoodie, letting it cover my face, along with my straight black hair.
"I like it" I replied back stubbornly. "Do we really have to stay here that long?" I complained to my father.
"It's been so long since we had a family vacation! Besides, your sister will be here in three weeks. You two used to love this place when you were little, so she wanted to come back here since she only gets to visit for a little while" he explained. My older sister was already out of school and a model, so she spent most of her time travling all over the world for photoshoots.
I had just finished school and even though I wanted to spend my summer in the city, my parents had dragged me along to this sunshine-filled, happy pension. I mean it was nice, don't get me wrong, but it made me out of my element.
"Ri Ah, why don't you get in your swimsuit and swim around here, or maybe head over to the beach?" she suggested.
"Umma, I didn't even bring a swimsuit" I grumbled. I had hidden my swimsuits at home so my mother wouldn't try and sneak them into my bag.
"That's why I bought you a new bikini!" she said happily taking out a teal bikini, with the price tag still on it.
"Thanks" I said sarcasticallly, looking it over. "Why exactly am I suppose to be doing here for a month?" I pouted, looking around at all the tourists.
"Well, your mother and I are going to be having our second honeymoon" my father said putting his arm around her shoulder. They started nuzzling their noses together like a young couple on a getaway weekend.
"Appa!" I complained, shielding my eyes. "Chincha?"
"We even got the same suite as our first honeymoon, that where's your mohter and I made your sister-"
"NO NO I CAN'T HEAR YOU LA LA LA LA LA......" I yelled, plugging my ears and walked away.
I was walking around on the beach when it hit me.
No, not an epihany.
A volleyball...and it hurt.
I clutched the back of my head and looked to see a couple of girls running over to me, and a white volleyball near my feet. "Sorry" one of the girls mumbled. I didn't say anything and just kicked the ball over to them.
"What a freak, why is she wearing all black in the middle of summer?" another one of the girl's whispered. I heard her though and stopped to turn and throw her a glare. The girls froze up when they saw me giving an icy look. "Oppa! Oppa!" the third one shricked and their attention span went away as they started running towards the darling "oppa"-a well toned older guy with tattoos.
"Stupid girls..." I muttered. "Attention span of a flea, and loyalty that lasts a minute I'm guessing"
Feeling my mood sink, I walked away from the beach and towards the streets. Ok, maybe it was too hot to be wearing all black and a jacket. But I wasn't going to tell them that...
I entered a small cafe and breathed a sigh of relief as I felt the cool air condition hit my face, and the strong smell of bitter coffee and freshly baked pastries hit my nose. I decided to treat myself, sweets always put me in a better mood. I went up and ordered an iced mocha and looked around at the display until I finally picked out a small slice of strawberry shortcake.
I took a bite of it when I got to the table and nearly squealed out loud like a little fangirl, it was one of the best cakes I had ever tasted. Maybe this place wouldn't be so bad.
After I had finished stuffing myself with cake, I got up to exit and was near the door when it suddenly swung open, almost hitting me in the face.
"Sorry, wait, coming through-"a boy said quickly, trying to avoid me. But because my luck was bad that day, he stumbled over his own feet and crashed into me. I screamed and fell back against the table.
"What is this?" I screamed, noticing some dessert was all over me.
"Uh...cheesecake" the boy answered just grinning. I think he was laughing at me, because I looked down to see myself covered in what used to be the cheesecake he was holding, as well as my coffee.
"You think this is funny huh?" I said throwing him a glare, as I straightend up.
"No, I mean..." he stuttered, eyes suddenly getting wide. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-'
"CHANG SUN, WHAT DID YOU DO NOW?!" I heard some lady yell from the back. I let out of small scream of frustration and marched out of there. Trying very hard to ignore all the strange looks I got as I walked back to my room, fuming.
