Here's a set of four amazing vintage cooking references, including the fully illustrated, 1951 'American Woman's Cook Book' along with three glorious 1950s 'Gourmet' Magazines. The American Woman's Cook Book was edited and revised by Ruth Berolzheimer, the Director of the Culinary Arts Institute. This fabulous foodie reference has a thumb-index, as well as many,many black-and-white and full color photos of food and kitchen utensils, table settings and awesome dishes that didn't make it into color! This is 856 pages of mostly everything you'd want to know about cooking in the early 1950s booming Post-War era. The three 'Gourmet Magazines are from February and March, 1950 and August, 1959. I find the covers irresistible and totally framable if you wish. All four are in very good vintage condition - especially as far as cooking goes. The cookbook is unmarked - just lightly sunned on the page margins. The cover is somewhat worn and faded. Due to its size, the spine has pulled away slightly from the corner, up top, but this hefty book is fully intact. Inside, a few penciled recipes, a handbook of Certo Recipes and Wok & Stir Fry booklet. The Gourmet magazines are all very good condition - no marks, subscription labels, or tears - just a crease on '59 and some mildly bent cover corners on the '50s issues. By the way, all three covers are signed by the artist credited. If you love the 1950s - the amazing food illustrations and the inventive (now nostalgic) recipes, this set will do you proud. Such great vintage kitchen look books, in this condition, are few and far between.
