  • Fritz Hansen Pk8 Upholstered Chair
    hivemodern.com
Design Poul Kjaerholm, 1978. Aluminum, ABS plastic, upholstery. Made in Denmark by Fritz Hansen. The PK8 - is part of Fritz Hansen's "Poul Kjaerholm collection". The design is from 1978 and until 2007 it only existed as a drawing and as a prototype in Hanne Kjaerholm's home. The beautiful, organic shell is known from the PK9 - the 3-legged aluminum base, however, is unique. A notable chair, the PK8 follows the delicacy of Kjaerholm's design style. It is suitable for any environment, from lounges and waiting areas to private homes. The PK8 is a fine choice together with a great variety of tables, but the best match is the PK58 table. Poul Kjærholm had a particular interest in various construction materials; especially steel, which he considered a natural material. He was a trained carpenter who continued studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He moved on to work at Fritz Hansen, for about a year, where he designed a number of noteworthy chair prototypes. In 1955, Kjærholm started collaborating with manufacturer Ejvind Kold Christensen, which lasted until his death in 1980. In 1982, Fritz Hansen took over the production and sales of "The Kjærholm Collection", developed from 1951 to 1967, designs, which are logical to the minute detail with an aura of exclusivity. The shell is made from dyed hard plastic material with a lacquer coating which sits atop an aluminum base. Each chair is provided with a unique number engraved in the base. PK8 shell comes in your choice of black, white, grey and red with the seat front upholstered in your choice of fabric or leather. 23.7" W | 21" d | 30.7" h | seat: 17.3" h.

  • Bernhardt Design Chiara Lounge Chair
    hivemodern.com
Design Noe Duchaufour-Lawrance, 2013. Upholstery, polished aluminum base. Made in USA by Bernhardt Design. Chiara, by Parisian designer Noe Duchaufour-Lawrance, is a response to a world that can't stop talking. "Our personal and professional worlds have blurred together. Technology and media are ubiquitous. Chiara lounge chair is a refuge from our overstimulated world," says Duchaufour-Lawrance. For the seat, Duchaufour-Lawrance drew from the shapes of flower petals and leaves. As a result, the chair cradles without enveloping you. Chiara is at once supportive, but not restrictive. As a modern lounge piece, Chiara's generous open seat swivels and allows you to use the chair in different ways. Chiara is meant to adjust to your needs, rather than dictate how it is to be used. In a world screaming for our attention, Chiara stands out with its invitation to rest, listen and reflect. Born in South France, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance is a designer of objects and interior environments. Following in the footsteps of his father, a sculptor, his artistic interests developed at an early age. Growing up in this creative atmosphere, he had the opportunity to define his own language: using natural shapes with smooth and organic lines which remain fluid and structured at the same time. After earning a degree in Metal Sculpture from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Art, he studied furniture design at the renowned Les Arts Décoratifs. Chiara is fully upholstered in your choice of textile with a polished aluminum self-return swivel base. 33" W | 29" d | 29" h | seat: 16.5" h.

  • Fritz Hansen Rin Chair - Upholstered Front
    hivemodern.com
Design Hiromichi Konno, 2008. Plastic, aluminum, steel, upholstery. Made in Denmark by Fritz Hansen. "I wanted to make a beautiful chair that can stimulate and awaken emotions in people...Therefore, I have established something poetical, simple, strong, relaxed and innovative all at the same time. The goal from the beginning was to create the perfect chair." - Hiromichi Konno. Rin™ is a multifunctional chair that can be paired with a wide range of tables depending on your needs. The idea was to create a new type of chair that is in harmony with Japanese and Danish design traditions. The Japanese word RIN means an appearance that is stunning, elegant and courageous. The chair is elegant with a very innovative and progressive design. It invites you to sit in it for hours taking the traditional chair design into a new direction. Hiromichi Konno is a Japanese designer with an international outlook. He has studied in both Japan and Sweden and also lived in London for many years. His style is very unique and there is a special energy and something almost teasing about his designs. Rin is Hiromichi Konno's first collaboration with Fritz Hansen. We think that Rin looks particularly great with the Circular tables from Arne Jacobsen or the Plano table from Pelikan Design. It is currently available in six molded seat shell colors with or without upholstery. The frame is a 4-legged star-shaped base made of polished aluminum and a polished pedestal made of steel with attached glides made of black injection molded plastic. The star base is available polished or powder coated to match the shell. For environmental reasons all parts of the Rin chair can be dismantled. The plastic can be granulated and material from the aluminum and steel parts can be recycled. 22.4" W | 21.6" d | 30.3" h | seat: 17.7" h.
