  • Josef Hoffmann Hoffmann Armchair
    dwr.com
Josef Hoffmann is well known for the simple, restrained, yet visually interesting dining chairs – several intended for cafés – that he designed early in the 20th century. The influence of the Arts and Crafts movement can be seen in his work, but Hoffmann also embraced the industrial age. Rather than rejecting traditional decoration, he succeeded in making it serve structural principles, which he believed should determine the forms of buildings, interiors and objects. Whether admiring one of his chairs or the Sanatorium Purkersdorf he designed in 1903, you can see Hoffmann’s emphasis on straight, unadorned lines, characteristics that are in keeping with the style of the Viennese Secession. The Hoffmann Armchair (1925), designed in collaboration with Josef Frank, is made at the bentwood factory founded by Michael Thonet in 1861. Made in the Czech Republic.

  • Kartell Bourgie Table Lamp
    hivemodern.com
Design Ferruccio Laviani, 2004. Polycarbonate, metallic ABS. Made in Italy by Kartell. A reminiscence of the 70's with his Easy and Fl/Icon lamps which featured playfulness, joy and color. After Take, with its young, informal and amusing design, we introduce the Bourgie lamp, of classic inspiration, the revisiting of a classic: the baroque lamp. The revolutionary invention of this lamp is it is made entirely in transparent polycarbonate. On one hand, it is classical, rich, traditional and on the other, it is innovation, transparency, irony. The quality of the material and the extremely high-quality processing makes it look like a precious, crystal lamp. The baroque style base is constituted of three decorated layers that cross over each other, and the large hood is made with a plisse effect, to create a play on reflections when lit. Thanks to a special coupling system on the hood, it can be assembled at three different heights. You can use it as a side table in the drawing room, or place it on the bedside table for evocative bedroom lighting; as a sculptural object it can be placed directly on the floor, or used as a reading lamp on a desk. Light intensity is adjustable through a high quality switch dimmer. The chrome and gold finish versions are produced in a limited edition. 14.5" Dia | 26.75", 28.75" or 30.75" tall. UL listed | requires 3x40W incandescent or 3x28W E12 type B halogen bulbs.

  • Herman Miller® Eames® Lounge Chair
    hivemodern.com
Design Charles & Ray Eames, 1956. Molded plywood, die-cast aluminum legs, leather upholstery. Made by Herman Miller® "Who would say that pleasure is not useful?" -Charles Eames. The Eames lounge chair is the culmination of Charles and Ray Eames' efforts to create comfortable and handsome lounge seating by using production techniques that combine technology and handcraftsmanship. Its heritage goes back to the molded plywood chairs pioneered by the Eameses in the 1940s. The Eames lounge chair is considered among the most significant and collectible furniture designs of the 20th century and is part of the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art. Charles Eames said his goal for the chair was the "warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt." Every one is a special refuge from the strains of modern living. The first lounge chair, produced in 1956, was a birthday gift for friend Billy Wilder, the Academy Award-winning film director, and it made its public debut on Arlene Francis' Home show, which later became the Today show. With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look." Every lounge chair manufactured since the original has received the same meticulous handcrafted attention. The rich veneer and supple leather suggest old-fashioned luxury translated into modern forms, setting an enduring standard for comfort and elegance. In addition, the lounge chair is now available in a veneer called santos palisander, a lustrous veneer that has the same characteristics as the original rosewood, color and grain. The chair has 6-inch thick urethane foam cushions and rich leather upholstery available in your choice of colors. • Atollo 237 Table Lamp By Oluce
    2modern.com
For many years now, Atollo has no longer been a lamp, or rather, it has no longer been just a lamp. It has become a myth, an icon: one of the best know symbols of Italian design wordwide, one of the very few products which people recognise and call with its own name. Designed by Vico Magistretti in 1977, it was awarded the Compasso d'Oro in 1979 and became, since then, part of the permanent collections of the world's major museum of design, as well as part of the furniture of many homes of those who love and are able to select the things surrounding them.Atollo's secret probably lies in the geometrical construction of its shapes: the cone on the cylinder and the semisphere above all. A luminous sculpture from which nothing can be removed to which nothing can be added. And which nothing can copy. Table lamp giving direct and diffused light in opaline blown Murano glass diffuser. With dimmer.

  • Kartell Tati Table Lamp
    hivemodern.com
Design Ferruccio Laviani, 2009. PMMA, methacrylate, fabric. Made in Italy by Kartell. A rectangular table lamp characterized by its extremely clean lines, squared off in a mood vaguely reminiscent of the Deco era. Tatì's solid body of transparent polycarbonate encases an internal diffuser available in full color methacrylate, opaline and black or in a pleated fabric and has a chrome steel weight in the support. The rigour of form and material, far from making it chilly or cold, on the contrary, creates an object of bourgeois allure which will fit in anywhere while maintaining its contemporary line. Different chromatic plays of light give the effect that when turned off, Tatì reveals the full color of its surface but when turned on, the adjustable intensity of light filtering from its sides lights up its whole body. As an architect and designer, Ferruccio Laviani works in the fields of furnishing and accessories, industrial communication, exhibition, event and show room installation. He has worked with a variety of companies worldwide. In 1992, the collaboration between Laviani and Foscarini began and it has continued since, with the research of new shapes and materials. His contemporary style is hallmarked by a particular sign or color. Available in your choice of white, black or pleated fabric. 18.5" W | 5.9" d | 18.1" h. UL listed | requires 1x22W FC5 circolina T5 bulb.
