  • Vitra Eames & Saarinen Organic Chair
    hivemodern.com
Design Charles Eames & Eero Saarinen, 1940. Laminate seat shell, beech legs, upholstery. Made in Germany by Vitra. For the "Organic Design in Home Furnishings" competition held by the Museum of Modern Art, Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen created an entire series of versions of the Organic chair, each intended for a different sitting position. The designs were ahead of their time, but never went into production owing to a lack of technology. Not until after 1950 was it possible to produce (and sell) larger numbers of organically molded seat shells, such as the Eames' famous Plastic Armchair or Saarinen's Tulip chair. While the Organic chair is a comfortable small reading armchair, the Organic Highback has a higher backrest and neck support. In addition, the armrests and seat area are broader and longer. Available in an assortment of vibrantly colored fabrics. Beech legs, stained black. low back: 32.5" h | 26.5" d | 28.5" w | seat: 13.75" h | 22.25" d. high back: 42.25" h | 31" d | 33.5" w.

  • Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk Raleigh Armchair in Leather
    dwr.com
Raleigh (2009) is a comfortable, modern collection that draws from mid-century Danish design. Wrapping around the back of this Sofa is a solid walnut frame (be sure to click on Additional Views to see it) that brings visual lightness and satisfying aesthetic tension to the design. There's also a very functional reason for the way that this frame triangulates to the back of the Sofa. Namely, that it permits a gracefully canted and ergonomic seatback while still solidly supporting you as you relax and unwind. DWR Design Studio chose to work with Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk on this project because of the importance they place on people – how they move, interact, live, and most of all, sit. Made in U.S.A. Best of Year! The Raleigh Collection received Interior Design magazine's top honor for 2010 in the residential lounge category. The angled, high back comfortably supports your upper body. Visible from the side and back, this Sofa is cradled in a solid walnut frame. Down-blend filled back cushions have removable covers for cleaning.
  • Bensen Munro Shelf Table
    hivemodern.com
Design Niels Bendtsen. Wood veneer, solid steel. Made in British Columbia by Bensen. The Hollywood series of tables are all about the legs. Because of a unique connector system, legs are detachable and interchangeable, easily converting a low coffee table to an entertainment console or side table. The changing role of a Hollywood table allows a piece to evolve with an owner's changing needs. Munro tables combine a wood top with simple and precise metal legs. The finish is made up of select solid wood and veneers that are carefully matched, sliced and stitched together for harmonious pattern and consistent coloration. The clear lacquer coat protects veneer from daily use while bringing out the natural colors and patterns of select species. The Munro legs are made of solid steel with a hand brushed chrome finish. Legs are interchangeable allowing for multiple heights and the option to add a shelf. The legs are connected to the tabletop through a unique pin mechanism that allows for rapid one-step attachment of legs. The connector mechanism is embedded into the top and eliminates all visible hardware even on the bottom of the table, maintaining sleek proportions and an attention to detail, from any angle. The removable legs allow for flat packing, making shipping and transport simple. Tabletops are available in wenge, grey oak, or white oak. small: 39.25" L | 19.5" d | 11.5" or 15.5" h | 5.3" h between shelves. medium: 59" L | 19.5" d | 11.5" or 15.5" h | 5.3" h between shelves. large: 78.75" L | 19.5" d | 11.5" or 15.5" h | 5.3" h between shelves.

  • Artifort Concorde Lounge Chair
    hivemodern.com
Design Pierre Paulin, 1960. Steel, aluminum base polished or powder coat, upholstery. Made in Holland by Artifort. Unfortunately, Pierre Paulin will never produce any more new designs, but his legacy contains many beautiful things, such as these armless lounge chairs, originally designed for the waiting room of the French Concorde aircraft after which they were named. They represent perfect seating for waiting situations, but in the past they have demonstrated their suitability for use in living rooms as well. Although the Concorde eventually disappeared from the Artifort collection, the lounge chair is still very popular among Artifort fans. This popularity, together with its characteristic appearance - without armrests - and the fact that it is so comfortable, is reason enough to bring this 'old-timer' back into the collection. low back: 31.5" h | 23.6" w | 31.5" d | seat: 15.3" h | 18" d. high back: 38" h | 23.6" w | 32.6" d | seat: 15.3" h | 18" d.
