Dear person from my childhood,
We met when you were 7 and I was 3. I had just moved to Ann Arbor. We were both excited to meet each other. You were the only girl on our street and in our family. I was the only one in my family and I had no girl friends. My mom ran a home daycare, and all the other children were boys (I can't believe I didn't turn out to be more of a tomboy). We were both excited to have another girl for a friend. I always thought you were totally awesome, and I still do. You were always the older, cooler one. I was just an immature little kid. Then, one day, a girl moved in just a few houses away. You two were the same age. We were all friends, but I wasn't treated . . . as an equal if you know what I mean. A few years later she moved away, and we were good friends again. When I was in 3rd grade, twins my age moved next door to you. We hung out alllllll the time, and I kind of ignored you. They moved away a few years later, but since we were older, we just never mended the relationship. Recently, you went to EMU and are training for the army. I hope you like it there, and that you never have to go fight. I would be so sad if anything happened to you. You may not be my friend anymore, but I'll never forget all the fun we had. Thanks for the memories!
