Audrey Greene 06.01.10
I couldn't sleep. Traye was still incarcerated. Anna had asked for a recess that's all he could give. I was being called as a witness for Traye which I was okay with it. I would testify it wasn't him. Anna was staying with me. She was nervous that HE was still out there, so was I.
I was tossing and turning. Thoughts spinning in my head. I had seen the bruises on his face. I hated this, he was suffering and it was my fault. I had brought him there, and he was getting my pictures after all.
I stood up at 2 AM. I got dressed, I walked to Anna's room.
"Hey" I softly tapped her shoulder, but she woke up.
"Hey" She mumbled.
"I'm going to the jailhouse. I'm bailing him out."
"Audrey he has no bail set."
"I'm bringing my father, he'll figure it out. I just can't...it's just awful...I need to help." I stumbled.
"I'm coming." She sat up.
"No No you need your sleep."
"Audrey, seriously, I'm coming." She walked towards her closet. As she got dressed I went to my dad's office and knocked. It was a long shot, he was probably already in bed.
As I turned away, "Yes?"
My father was standing in the doorway. His tied was loose and he smelled of cigar.
"I need your help."
He immediately went into father mode. "What, sweetie whats wrong."
"You know about Anna's case?" He nodded. "They have the wrong guy. They have Traye, he didn't do it. I'm his alibi. I want to get him out of jail, he's being treated horrible in there."
"Is this THE Traye?" My dad looked pessimistic.
"Please daddy." I pleaded.
We were in his car within minutes. Anna and I climbed in the back.
We explained what was happening to him and he took on his lawyer face. He nodded as he drove.
Once at the jailhouse. I ran ahead and talked to the clerk.
"Traye Faris, please." He looked at me skeptically.
My dad walked up behind me. "Hey David." He nodded to the man behind the desk.
"Jude, hello." They shook hands.
"Can I have the details on Mr. Faris's case please?"
They talked law jumblish. My dad pointed to chairs and Anna and I sat down. I put my head in my hands. Anna rubbed my back as I leaned forward.
It was long. There were some raised voices, some whispers and pointed fingers. Another two men came out. Almost an hour later, I was asleep on Anna's shoulder. Sheer exhaustion had hit me.
"Aud." A deep voice mumbled in my ear.
"Audrey." It was there again.
"Mmm?" I turned into Anna more, but she felt different. And why was I moving. This had to be a dream.
"Audrey go back to sleep, its okay." I finally understood the voice.
"Traye?" I was in his arms, we were walking behind me dad and Anna and they opened the back seat of the Escalade and Traye set me down on the seat.
I was asleep within 2 seconds.....
