Recipe for Deep Autumn metallic. Start with one part dark olive and add a measure of muddy brown. Blend until the colour of a dirty swamp. Add a dash of gold for heat. Voila! Jungle bronze!

By itself, this colour is not necessarily appealing for a lot of people, even Deep Autumns on whom it looks truly extraordinary. It doesn't conjure up images of picnics or beaches or holidays or parties. It doesn't seem much fun at all, actually. The personality of jungle bronze is just too serious. It might feel masculine, unfriendly, unwelcoming, uncomfortable. But in there is the absolute miracle of this colour. As a Deep Autumn, once you accept these qualities, you can start exploring another kind of colour expression. Jungle bronze may not be cupcakes and flower beds but it sure is powerful. Truly a warrior's colour. And completely necessary for chanelling your inner Amazon.

If you plan on going a blend of tribal, urban, boho or something else, bronze is sensational. It's actually a lot better than gold in many Deep Autumn outfits as it is much less shiny but retains that awe-inspiring metallic heat. Make sure it is tarnished and blackened or you might find your bronze belongs to another season.

All seasons will have some colours in their palette that make them a little uncomfortable. If you're open-minded, play a little by slowly incorporating elements into an outfit made up of more familiar colours. Once you see how beautifully it all fits together, you may start to feel differently about those few colours you have exiled.
