Don't forget that all eight neutral seasons can wear both silver and gold. The key is getting the right version and the correct balance between the two. For Deep Winters, brass is even better than gold. It looks heavier and dirtier and blends beautifully with blackened silver, marcasite and oily pewters. Shine should be kept to a minimum so brushed and tarnished metals are great.

The contrast levels in the dress are excellent for this palette and the shine of the silk places it comfortably with Winter. The dress is made up of mostly mid-range Deep Winter colours weighted with a little black. For this season, the overall effect needs to be one of rich darkness so I prefer to team the outfit with accessories in heavier colours to extend that depth.
