Day 1 of London Fashion Week, and already, some of the trends from New York have emerged as global. Black, white and sheers appeared in several collections. But what's different about London collections is that the cuts and the colors of some of the under-the-radar designers have been a little bolder than their New York counterparts. Who are the designers you should watch from London? Start with Maria Grachvogel, PPQ, Jean-Pierre Braganza and Unconditional.
Maria Grachvogel had silk dresses with lush, saturated colors that melted into each other, draped in a way that you know would flatter (and be forgiving on) most women. PPQ had some standout evening wear, including an avocado green gown with a floaty skirt. Jean-Pierre Braganza was more rock-and-roll with techno-prints, mosaics shaped like shards of glass and sleeveless jackets. Unconditional simulated a full blouson sleeve top, but completely sheer, with a snugger-fitting opaque camisole underneath.
