~DIY~ Unique denim shorts
heres a couple of ways i've found to help 'spice up' your denim shorts or changing your old worn out jeans :)
Jeans to shorts:
1) you can use an old pair of jeans (make sure they still fit around the top but that you’ll never want to wear them as jeans again) or a pair from a thrift shop
2) decide how short you want your shorts to be, mark them longer then you want them to be because you can always cut them shorter but you can’t grow them longer! Use a piece of chalk or marker to mark where you’ll cut them, then (I find it easier to fold them in half) cut them ☺
3) Put them on to see if there even then cut them again if you have to.
Cuts and Rips:
There are heaps of ways to do this! I like using a pair of scissors or retractable knife (BE CAREFULL!) to make slits in the fabric then pulling some of the threads down you can also use things like:
A cheese grater, rough nail file, sand paper, tweezers,
All these will add a rough warn out finish but don’t go to town on them! (to much (; ) because over time they will become more frayed and warn as they get washed and you wear them.
Studs and Fabric:
(Studs)
This is where they start getting unique and we start getting creative :D
You can pick up studs from craft store but I got mine from Ebay for a couple of dollars because none of the craft store around me stocked them :/ if you want to buy them from ebay search for ‘pyramid studs’
You can put the studs anywhere you want, you can even make designs on them! A couple of ideas are the pockets, one whole side of the shorts, removing the thread from the back pocket and studding that (like the picture in the set)
(Fabric)
you can pick out ANY fabric you want let your imagination run wild! Haha you can put your fabric in the pockets, pocking through the rips you just made, over one half of the shorts ect…
Bleach and dye
Bleach and dye in another great way to personalize them with different colors and ways to dye them you can ombre them with different colors fading into other colors (example: purple fading into blue..) or ‘splatter’ the dye/bleach onto the shorts, you can also do a reverse ombre and dye the top of the shorts and fade it downwards
Lace
You can make your shorts look really cute and quirky by sewing lace onto the bottoms, pockets, side or anywhere! You can pick lace up from most craft stores or online for fairly cheap it also comes in a variety of colors too!
If you read all of that I will personally bake you cookies! Haha
Tell me what you think!
