  • James Bourret "Fox Creek No.1" Color Photograph
    artfulhome.com
The ideas explored in the artist's ''Motion Picture Series'' are related to motion and its effect on seeing. While the Bourret has been deeply moved over the years by images of the natural world created by the masters of ''straight photography'', those interpretations are for the most part still images, tranquil and inherently passive. Bourret pursues an interpretation that involves a more active role in seeing the world. We are rarely impartial or passive viewers, but instead our views of the world are dependent on our involvement, our emotions, and our motion. These photographs, developed over the course of the past year, are the result of an active involvement with the landscape. The motion of the camera across the landscape reduces its content to its simplest elements of color and form. No details, just color and shapes, a sense of movement, and of possibility. Limited edition pigment print on archival rag paper of 25. Paper size is 24''H x 30''W. Dimensions refer to image size.

  • William Curtis Rolf: Stables Interior at Kedleston
    restorationhardware.com
Drawn from the archives of fine art photographer William Curtis Rolf, his exquisite black-and-white photographs depict a life-long affection for the 18th- and 19th-century lifestyles of France and England. A fine example of Roman vaulting, the interior of the Samuel Wyatt stables at Kedleston is a small-scale cathedral to horses. The descendants of the original owners have lived on the estate near Kedleston Hall since 1297. When Rolf photographed the stables, one of the family members asked whether he wanted the leaves swept up! He said that he would prefer having them left as they were. This is one of his favorite stables interiors of the nearly 100 he has photographed in Great Britain and France. Black-and-white photographic print. Brown paper mat. Edition of 150. Print includes letter of authenticity. Printed to archival standards on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth paper using Canon Lucia pigment inks. Gold leaf over wood frame.
