Alaska de Sauveterre
thursday 3rd of january, 2013; Since it's the new year, today will be a day dedicated to change. You can change your look, you can change your room, you can change well almost anything if you want.

I took one last look at myself in the mirror before walking out of my bedroom and stepping down the stair case to find the living room deserted. It couldn't have become deserted in a matter of seconds, I had heard voices and footsteps only moments before as I was slipping on my necklace.

I stood puzzled for a moment before Saskia leaped out and startled me.

"What are you trying to achieve, Sas?" I questioned, breathless as I attempted to regain breath and a normal heart rate. "I was trying to scare you, I don't think it worked" she replied with a serious expression.

"Are you kidding me? I almost dropped dead on the ground from a heart attack" I spoke, placing my handbag on the couch and leant against the arm rest.

"Did I really startle you that bad?" Saskia questioned, wrapping an arm around my shoulder and pulling me closer. "Take a wild guess" I retorted, playfully rolling my eyes.

"And you know that isn't how you win my heart" I told her, combing a hand through my loose curls. "I can't win your heart by making it stop?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.

"No, Sas."

"I'm just kidding with you, Alaska" she laughed. It was odd hearing someone call me Alaska but it was my name after all. "You can call me Ally" I paused, "please."

Ally seemed more right, more suited for me.

"Alright, Al-dawg" Saskia grinned. "Al-dawg?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, it's your new nickname" Saskia paused, "you don't like it?" she pouted.

"It's odd but I'll cope" I shook my head and laughed.

"You look fancy, why are you all dressed up?" Saskia looked me up and down, her eyes lighting up once seeing the new skirt I was wearing. It wasn't new, it had been sleeping in my wardrobe for six months now.

It had probably been sitting there for longer, I just didn't want to admit it.

"No reason."

"Really? I'm expected to believe 'no reason'?" Sas raised an eyebrow, placing a hand on her hip.

"Fine, I've decided this year, I won't be so dull."

"Yes, dull. I'll add more colour and more shimmer and sparkle" I smiled gently. "Don't turn into Barbie, please" Saskia scrunched up her nose.

"I couldn't transform into Barbie even if I tried" I laughed.

"If you keep wearing more pink, you might just transform into Barbie" Saskia warned me. "And I don't know about you but I think transforming into an actual transformer robot would be much cooler."

I think I already adore this girl.
