The dragon was a great thinker. As he sat on his planetary perch gazing down at the doomed planet Earth, his thoughts travel eons back in time.
"'The pen is mightier than the sword" was said by many human men (and women he supposed) during the centuries when literacy was emerging. He remembered the remainder of the text coined by Edward Bulwer-Lytton
True, This! - Beneath the rule of men entirely great,The pen is mightier than the sword.
Behold The arch-enchanters wand! - itself a nothing! - But taking sorcery from the master-hand
To paralyse the Caesars, and to strike
The loud earth breathless! - Take away the sword - States can be saved without it!
There had been times of great promise in some areas of the world, with humans believing laying down of weapons would save the world.
The dragon felt tears well in his eyes. He, of all beasts, knew best how man was forever addicted to power and quick to grab his weapon. He knew wars were not fought or won by the written word.
