(collab with my @sassy !!!)
“Your room is a disaster.” I said looking around at my friends current living situation. She had coerced me to go out with her tonight after my rehearsal instead of wallowing in my own misery over the fact that my boyfriend was more and more unavailable due to his upcoming nuptials. God I can’t believe I even put that sentence together in my head what was wrong with me?!
“That’s not my bedroom, that’s Eli’s.” Jade said walking further down the hallway to her bedroom which honestly? Wasn’t all that much better.
“Oh.” I said biting my lip and smirking at my friend.
“What is that face about?” she asked pointing a finger at me as she slipped her jeans and tee shirt off and exchanged them for a short skirt and a band shirt she’d turned into a tank.
“What face?” I asked, playing innocent as I sat on her bed and folded my legs up under me.
“The smirky “I'm biting my lip” one!” she replied. I shrugged.
“You never told me you lived with Eli Brooks.” I said. “I had to find that out from him.”
“You never asked. Why are you interested?” she was smirking back now, if there was anyone that could tear me away from Bryce she was all over it. Honestly that’s how most my friends felt. And if there was something I could do to change the way that I felt? Then I’d do it.
“No.” I said simply. “And he’s not either. He set a date with me and stood me up. Besides by the look of these men’s jeans?” I said pulling them out from under the sheets at the foot of her bed. I smirked at her.
“Those could be anyone’s. And I'm surprised he stood you up.”
"Why?" Jade asked, raising one eyebrow.
"Because I mean, I'm-" I cut myself off because really I was sure it had less to do with me and more to do about Eli but she cut me off, raising one hand and rolling her eyes at me.
"No, please no."
"What?" I widened my eyes at her, confused before she finished her sentence.
"I'm not ready for listening to me whining about how s.hitty your sentimental life is and you can't find a decent guy, if Bryce doesn't want you then why anyone else would..." she trailed off and glanced at the annoyed look on my face,
"The list goes on." she grinned. I glared at her before I felt the grin slowly working it’s way onto my face.
"Aren't you a little b.itch?" I said seriously. She looked relieved that I wasn’t pissed at her for a second but then she shrugged.
"Maybe. But I'm also right." She bent over her bed so she could continue to pick up the clothes scattered across the floor as I walked over to her desk and leaned against it.
"I'd never say those things." I protested, and then sighed when Jade raised one eyebrow at me, "Okay maybe I might. If I'm drunk. Sad drunk."
"Or sober, happy sober." she joked, back grabbing the men’s jeans and walking out of her room to throw them onto Eli’s before coming back to me.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked finally giving her an amused look.
"Tell you what?" she blinked at me, totally clueless.
"That you're f.ucking Eli." I smirked. She let out a small laugh and rolled her eyes,
"I thought you'd read it on the newspaper." She joked.
“I don’t get the newspaper.” I teased as she unhooked a bra from the headboard of her bed and threw it into the laundry basket.
“You really should. Keeps you updated on current events.” Jade said seriously, struggling to keep a straight face as I shook my head.
“The current events I care about? Are what bands are playing where and why my friends never tell me anything.” I made a deal about making a huge pouty face and she ran her fingers through her hair.
“Because you never ask. You’re too busy with your own shi.t.” My mouth dropped open and then I shut it, not having a comeback because honestly? Sometimes I could be a little too wrapped up in my own head to worry about my friends. My bad.
“Okay I deserved that. Still what happened to tall, blonde and brooding?” I smirked and she shrugged.
“Nothing happened to him.” Jade said.
“You just don’t like him anymore.” I pushed. Jade stopped tidying and looked up at me as she slipped into a pair of studded boots that had actually been a Christmas present from me last year.
“You might be burdened with strong feelings for the men you get into bed with….” She started and then smirked at me. “Oh sorry. I meant man.” I narrowed my eyes on her but didn’t speak. “But I don’t have that problem. It’s just sex. Just like with Eli.”
“You know most people wouldn’t call feelings a burden.” I pointed out, tempted to ask her how good Eli was in bed…but I passed. I didn’t need to know.
“You would have before your precious Bryce.” She pointed out. She had a point. I had been worse if not just like her in how I treated men. And yeah, it was a whole lot simpler. But then again besides Bryce? No other guy had wanted me more than a few times.
“Looks like I grew up.” I winked at her, knowing it was a ridiculous statement but saying it anyways almost ironically.
"Yep." she nodded her head in agreement as she opened one of her drawers, "Straight to 50."
"I look hot for being 50." I grinned.
"There's nothing to be happy about." she sighed, shaking her head as she reached for a white tank top.
“Make up your mind Jade." She scoffed, pulling off her tee shirt and tossing it on her bed…made sense why there were clothes everywhere. I smirked and she looked back at me.
"I'm not following you." she admitted. I let my eyes drop down against her chest and I stared at her for a second.
"You have really small boobies." I said, before looking at my own chest and realizing that mine weren’t much bigger. I just wore really padded bras.
"This is brand new information." She grinned, sighing as she slid her top on quickly.
"Anyway." I composed myself, tucking my hair behind my ears, "You can't complain about me being all sad and mopey but also complain when I'm happy and silly."
"I wasn't complaining, just teasing."
"Good." I said simply. It wasn’t often that I was in the mood to be happy and I was glad that my friend wasn’t really holding that over me. I looked around the room, grinning as my eyes landed on her family photo. Her brother Nick with his arm around her. Nick? Was one of those guys that was so fu.cking good looking that it was almost uncomfortable being around him. Like I had run into him the other day? And instead of saying hello I just kind of grunted. Yeah. I'm pretty sure he thought I was a drunk homeless chick. Jade walked up to me and grinned, looking at the look on my face.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I said, pushing the thought of her brother out of my head.
“Spill the beans." she ordered as she slumped on the bed next to me.
“Well for one thing you are being unusually silly and happy which is so not like you lately.” ….okay she had a point.
“You try being silly and happy when your boyfriend is getting married.” I said, folding my arms over my chest.
“And besides that? You made your hot guy face!” I rose an eyebrow at her.
“My what?” she smirked at me and shrugged.
“You have this face you make when you’re thinking about a guy naked.” Jade said seriously. I widened my eyes.
“I do not!!!!”
“Yup yup you do. So what was that about?” I shrugged.
“Maybe it was about your roommates jeans in your bed.” I pointed out.
“Well if you wanted to know what Eli looked like naked you just had to ask.” Jade grinned wickedly.
“Ask who. You? Or him.”
“Either.” Jade grinned “Though he’d probably be better.” I shook my head and rolled my eyes at her.
“Actually I was just admiring your family photo…..” I trailed off, walking up to it and biting my lip as I let my eyes wander over Nick Lanes clearly sculpted body.
“Gross. That I can’t help you with.” I sighed.
“That’s too bad…..” I trailed off. She got up and grabbed the photo, pushing it flat against the desk.
"You're being borderline creepy." I bit down on my lip trying to hide my grin, mostly because I enjoyed teasing her. I shrugged then.
"You know what's creepy?" I asked. She raised one eyebrow at me.
"No. Enlight me." she snorted, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You dating a guy who looks like your brother." I said with a straight face watching her jaw drop open as her eyes widened.
"Jamie doesn't look like Nick at all." She protested. Though really? I was serious. They looked super similar. Except that Nick was hotter. And Jamie kind of frightened me. Then again? Nick was a little intimidating too.
"Well, they're both tall, god looking, blond long hair..."
"Jamie cut his hair." She cut me off, snorting. I made a fake pout at her.
"Is that why you don't like him anymore?" I teased.
"I still like him." She said glaring at me and making me widen my eyes. I don’t think she’d ever admitted that out loud. Of course I knew that her feelings for Jamie were more than the other guys she didn’t care about….but I didn’t think she knew. That was when she noticed the shocked look on my face and she rolled her eyes.
"And we're not dating for f.uck's sake."
"Such a language." I giggled, heading back to her bed and sitting on its edge.
"You're exasperating sometimes." She muttered under her breath.
"I ran into him yesterday." I said casually.
"Jamie?" she asked. Making me smirk again at how she jumped to him so fast.
"And?" she urged.
“And? And nothing.” Jade smirked.
“You’ve always had a crush on my brother Jord admit it.” I rolled my eyes.
“He’s nice to look at” I agreed. But that doesn’t mean I have a crush on him.
“He didn’t even know who I was Jade. Which doesn’t matter because A. I have a boyfriend. And B.? I'm WAY out of Nick’s league.” My friend stopped looking for whatever she was looking for and glared at me.
“Okay first of all? I barely call what you and your vertically challenged boy toy have is a relationship, so I wouldn’t keep calling him your boyfriend. Secondly? If you want to talk about out of peoples leagues…..”
“Oh blah blah Bryce isn’t good enough for me.” I shook my head. I’d heard it all before.
“Not just not good enough for you Jordan. His dick must be huge for you to keep going back to him that’s all I'm saying.”
“Not everything is about sex in relationships Jade.”
“Yeah….and you and Bryce do sooo much more huh? You have a deep emotional connection?” I narrowed my eyes on my friend. I knew her words made sense but I wish that wasn’t what I felt.
“Because you know so much about emotional connections right?” I shook my head. “Are we going out or not? I want to be really drunk.”
"Of course we're going out." She muttered under her breath.
"Don't be a grumpy baby." Jade turned to me and gave me her biggest fake smile.
"I'm so happy I could die." she said through her clenched teeth. I rolled my eyes at her ridiculousness.
"Where are we going?" I asked. Jade looked like she was thinking about it before she grinned.
"I need to make a call."
"Take your time." I shrugged and sat on the chair in front of her desk as she reached for her phone. I slowly lifted up her family photo again and smirked as I checked out her brother again. Hey apparently no one even accepted my relationship so what was wrong with looking?
"Hey. "Where are you?" Jade said into her phone as I looked at my nails. They were a disaster. The price I pay for playing the guitar. "I want to spend some quality time with you." Jade grinned into the phone and I wondered who she was talking to. Maybe a bouncer or something that had the hots for her. "I hope you're not with a girl." She said pointedly. "Perfect, I'll see you there." She hung up and I looked over at her.
"Jamie?" I teased.
"Almost." Jade grinned wider, "Nick.” I narrowed my eyes at my friend and folded my arms over my chest.
“Why is it that one second you’re telling me looking at your brothers picture is borderline creepy and the next you’re inviting him to go out with us?” I asked her. Jade shrugged and made her best innocent face, which wasn’t really innocent at all I think she just didn’t know what that looked like.
“I just want quality time with my brother is that so hard to believe?” I shrugged.
“No but if it’s family bonding night I should just go out with Roan instead of you.” Jade shrugged her shoulders.
“Is he in town?” she asked as she walked out of her room and grabbed her keys, me following though I wasn’t sure why.
“No.” I admitted, pouting a little as Jade grinned back at me.
“Then you can share my quality bonding time.” She said as we reached the door to her apartment. I blocked it and raised a brow at her.
“Do you WANT me to hook up with your brother?” I asked her seriously. She shook her head.
“I know better than that Jord. You don’t like tall guys anyways.” She was trying not to burst out laughing and I shook my head.
“You think you’re making my life difficult but as long as we’re going to a place with alcohol I don’t care who else is there.” I said as I followed her again towards the elevator. Jade pushed the button and waited for the numbers to change before turning to me.
“Because you secretly like the idea that Nick will be there.” I shook my head.
“Because even if I did? He wouldn’t take a second glance at me. I think he’s said10 words to me since I’ve known him.”
“That’s just my brother. He’s probably only said 20 to me.” Jade said grinning to herself.
“Oh yeah, that’s just what I want in a man. Silence.” Jade stepped into the elevator, dragging me in with her.
“Actions speak much louder than words Jordyn.”
