  • Emeco - 111 Navy Coca-Cola Chair
    connox.com
The 111 Navy Chair is the result of the Emeco and Coca-Cola Company collaboration. Both companies have combined their classic products to this new chair, the Navy Chair on the one hand and nonreturnable bottles on the other one. The main idea from the 111 Navy Chair is to recycle: Every 111th Navy Chair from Emeco is made of approximately 111 recycled Coke bottles, therefore its name. Adjacent to the 60% recycled nonreturnable bottles; the Navy Chair is also composed of materials such as fibreglass that act as an additional steadiness factor. The 111 Navy Chair shows that recycling mustn’t necessarily be the reuse of waste, it shows that from second hand products, new products can emerge, that involve high quality and great design without being inferior to the competition. The 111 Navy Chair design is based on Emeco’s classic 1944 Navy Chair 1006. The chair was the headstone for Emeco’s success. With the 111 Navy Chair, Emeco and Coca Cola transformed something that people throw away in something long lasting. To support recycling is Emeco’s and Coca-Cola’s collective goal. Both companies home to produce 111 Navy Chairs with three million nonreturnable bottles a year.

The Hudson Chair is an award honoured aluminium chair from the star designer Philippe Starck. The US-American manufacturer Emeco produces the chair in an usual quality. The Hudson Chair design emerged in the year 2000. Shortly before that, Emeco began a tight cooperation with the designer Philippe Starck, this one designed several products for the American company. Including the Hudson Chair, this was designed initially for the Hudson Hotel in New York. Hudson Chair is a neutral version of the classic Navy Chair from Emeco. Philippe Starck shaped the design compact, pure and reduced, and in absolute harmony with the Emeco Company spirit. Because of its simple and beautiful design, the Hudson Chair was honoured with the Good Design Award in the year 2000 becoming part of the constant collection of the Modern Art Museum in New York one year later. As well as with its other products, Emeco puts emphasis on high quality handwork with the Hudson Chair. Several trained employees need many working hours to produce only one Hudson aluminium Chair. This has the consequence that the chair not only is high class processed, durable and robust but every specimen becomes to be unique. Furthermore this chair can be demanded as an arm-rest chair, as a stool, a bar stool, a rocking-chair and a swivel-chair. Every version can be ordered as an arm-rest chair.
  • Ettore Sottsass for Emeco Nine-O Chair
    plushpod.com
Designer: Ettore Sottsass for Emeco. The Nine-O, a new collection of chairs and stools by the Italian designer Ettore Sottsass debuted at the 2008 Salone Internazionale del Mobile. The new designs re-imagine the classic, all aluminium Emeco 1006 Navy Chair, but adds comfort and color with new features including soft polyurethane upholstery, a wider seat and stacking ability. These are the last chairs designed by Mr. Sottsass, who died in December 31, 2007 at the age of 90. Available in brushed or polished aluminium. Three different backs available, 3-bar, open, or soft. Seat and back cover available in red, orange, green, blue, or grey. Brushed: To give our chairs a brushed finish, we anodize them. Basically we put them through an electrolytic process. Which turns Aluminum to Aluminum oxide. Making it nearly as hard as diamonds. All very technical. But how does it feel? We like to think the brushed finish is a doing finish. A working chair. Utilitarian. Knock aboutable. You can feel the toughness. Industrial yet warm. Polished: Emeco chairs aren’t just polished. They’re polished 3 times, by hand First the individual parts. Then the assemblies. Finally the completed chair. Taking 8 hours it total. It’s what gives them their luxurious look. They feel sensual, smooth, almost soft. One customer even told us it was like climbing into silk sheets. Our polishers were happy. Options/finish: Material: Brushed or polished aluminum frame with integrally colored, soft polyurethane seat and back. Dimensions: 31.5" H x 20.25 W x 22.25 D, 18.5" seat height. Availability of Nine-O chair: brushed is 3 to 4 weeks. Polished is 6 to 8 weeks Shipping may apply - we pay half the cost for you.

Lancaster is the first chair by Emeco which consists of different components. Michael Young designed the chair in 2009; it became part of a collection of chairs, tables and stools meanwhile. Handmade, warm wood and technically cool aluminium are connected to an exceptional combination in the Lancaster chair. The exciting material contrast isn’t disturbed by the formally simple design of the Lancaster. The production of the Emeco Lancaster consists of a lot of experience: The ash wood of the chair is processed in Pennsylvania in traditional local Amish-craftsmen, while Emeco is responsible for the aluminium components – of course also processed with handwork. The Lancaste chair by Emeco is also available with a frame out of dark ash wood as well as with a dark grey seat and backrest. More chairs out of the Emeco Lancaster collection (such as counter stool or barstools) are also available on demand.
