Design by Konstantin Grcic, 2013. Made in the U.S.A. by Emeco. German designer Konstantin Grcic collaborated with American brand Emeco to realize his vision for the Parrish Side Chair. Its design is a dignified silhouette featuring a wide open back and sinuous high arms in powder coated aluminum with a simple round seat offered in textile and wood options. An integral "heart" joint at the base of the seat was designed specifically to interconnect all elements in to an extremely strong, durable structure. The Parrish furniture collection was designed for the interior spaces of the new Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill on Long Island — a museum showcasing works created by many of America's most influential artists. Opened in the fall of 2012, the barnlike building designed by Herzog and de Meuron is recognized for its elegant, simple interiors. Mirroring this aesthetic, the Parrish Collection of chairs and tables offers subtle designs that exhibit a beauty in their simplicity while allowing for an appreciation of their surrounding spaces. Recipient, ICFF Editors Awards "2013 Best Body of Work".
