  • English Classics Furniture Antique Style Walnut Writing Table
    english-classics.net
English Classics Furniture Antique Style Walnut Writing Table
This walnut writing table is English-made by hand as a reproduction of an Georgian period antique. Every aspect of this writing table (sometimes also called a library desk) is of the absolute highest quality. The burl walnut looks great, with a nice color and very pronounced grain and accented by a walnut cross band on the drawers. The three table drawers come equipped with solid brass hardware, which compliments the wood very nicely, and they also have dovetailed joints, which are a sign of excellent craftsmanship. You will notice that the middle drawer has a fold down front making it the ideal keyboard drawer as well. It also acts as a normal pencil drawer if you don’t need the fold down functionality. The top of this writing table is a writing surface of Georgian style brown leather bordered with decorative gold tooling. The leather really makes a great writing surface, far superior to wood, glass, metal, or plastic, while the turned legs keep the desk very sturdy. The height from the floor to the bottom of the desk is 24″.
  • English Classics Furniture Oak Oval Coffee Table with Yew Banding
    english-classics.net
English Classics Furniture Oak Oval Coffee Table with Yew Banding
This country style oval coffee table was recently hand-crafted in England as a Georgian period reproduction. Every aspect of its construction, from the materials used to the techniques employed to refine them, speaks of the absolute highest quality. Such a lovely coffee table would make a fine addition to any living room or office. The classic shape of this oval coffee table is quite elegant, providing extra depth in the center and more space on the tapered ends. Attractive French legs provide sturdy support, enhancing the simple yet refined country style of the piece. Little has changed in this fundamental design over the past few centuries, as it is both useful and beautiful. Measuring 70″ wide and 40″ deep, it provides a great deal of surface area that not only provides a convenient table top for setting various items–a tea or coffee set, for example–but it also displays the wood very beautifully. The oak and yew banding have been richly finished in an elaborate, seven-stage process. Before even the stain was applied to the wood, it was first distressed using iron and stone to impart characteristic “wear” marks onto the oak and yew, making this table fit in easily with antique furniture. After a quality coat of hand-brushed lacquer, several coats of wax were applied for a rich polish that fleshes out the natural beauty of the wood. Furniture paste wax can even be reapplied twice a year to maintain the table’s finish. The resulting contrast between the oak and the yew is quite striking, setting this piece apart as a truly fine oval coffee table.
  • English Classics Furniture Round Table With Leaves On Outside

English Classics Furniture Round Table With Leaves On Outside
This is an elegant round table with leaves on the outside that was recently hand crafted in England. From the stunning flame mahogany to the horseshoe shaped leaves, everything on this piece boasts beauty and classic style. The round table without the leaves measures 60″ in diameter. Adding the 10.5″ leaves around the outside increases the size to an impressive 81″ in diameter, enough to seat at least 10-12 comfortably. The use of flame mahogany for this table has been very well done. Veneered in “pie slice” sections creates a lovely pattern and really allows the natural beauty of the wood to shine through. On both the table and the leaves you will find a contrasting band of satinwood with an ebony black line inlay. This is a traditional combination of woods that gives the round table and outside leaves a timeless air. A wonderful hand rubbed finish provides a deep and rich sheen on the top as seen in French polishes. Underneath the top is a sturdy birdcage pedestal base. This is the perfect base for this table as it provides both stability and minimizes interference with chairs around the table. Each of the four legs is fluted. At the end of the legs you will find brass caps and casters. Installation of the leaves is quite simple. There are four leaves total. Each one is marked with a number to match corresponding wooden runners underneath the top. Simply hold the leaf in position and pull the wooden runners out. They will slide into grooves under the leaves. Finally, brass clips are inserted underneath to keep everything tight. The top and pedestal of this round table with leaves on outside do separate to make moving it inside much easier. This is a beautiful piece of furniture, in a very hard to find design. It will make a lovely addition to any dining room!

English Classics Furniture English Antique Style Mahogany Writing Table
This gorgeous mahogany writing table was recently crafted in England as a Georgian period reproduction. Everything about this lovely piece points to high quality materials and fine craftsmanship. The mahogany and satinwood inlays, for instance, were treated to an elaborate finishing process that ended in a hand-rubbed wax coating. The result is a gorgeous selection of polished wood that displays a rich complexion and a pronounced grain. The brown leather writing surface, bordered by gold tooling, also contrasts beautifully with the mahogany and satinwood inlays, while the brass swan neck pulls look great on the drawer fronts. Each drawer features hand-cut dovetails, and the turned legs are as sturdy as they are elegant. The height from the floor to the bottom of the desk is 24″.
