English Classics Furniture Georgian Style Cherry Dresser
This lovely cherry dresser was recently hand-crafted in England as a Georgian period reproduction. Designed in a classic country style, it would make a fine addition to any antique furniture collection. Every aspect of this beautiful cherry dresser is in keeping with classic period Georgian style. The straight front design was popular in chests like this during the Georgian period, and as it happens this simple yet elegant form has retained all of its original charm and beauty. Solid brass swan neck pulls and winged escutcheons contrast beautifully with the solid cherry, which has been treated to an elaborate, seven-stage finishing process. This began with distressing the wood using stone and iron implements to impart the small scuffs that are characteristic of antique furniture. Next, the chest was stained and finished, then polished by hand with several coats of wax, which both protects and enriches the natural beauty of the wood. The result is a stunning cherry dresser whose beauty will only continue to grow with time. Built in a traditional two-over-three drawer design, this dresser contains plenty of storage space. The top two drawers lock with an accompanying set of skeleton keys. The drawers are very sturdy and slide in and out very smoothly; each is fitted with hand-cut dovetailed joints for superior structural integrity. All of the hardware was forged in England the same way it has for centuries. The solid wood structure is itself very firm, while the shaped bracket feet are unwavering. Overall this cherry dresser is a magnificent, heirloom quality piece that will last for many decades to come!
