  • CB2 Hellbox Pie Prints Set Of Three
    cb2.com
Love letters. Hellbox Pie recasts rogue metal typefaces into a colorful trio of mosaic circles, each handprinted on a letterpress by graphic designer and printmaker Dan Elliott. The unusual name derives its meaning from common terms spoken in a print shop. As Elliott explains, when metal type is damaged, it's placed in "the Hellbox." Once the box is full, the type is melted down and recast into new forms. Likewise, when metal type is knocked over or jumbled together, it's referred to as "pied type" or "printer's pie." Here, Elliott makes a bold impression with salvaged typefaces. Dan elliott. Dan Elliott explores letterpress printing and mixed media to create designs that he describes in contradictory terms: Clean and messy, clear and abstract, simple and complex.
