    shophorne.com
The Bjork series and its patterned structure offer a modern and enriched textile quality that is beautifully paired with stylish leather detailing. The designer, Lena Bergstrom's, conviction is that the flat textile surface of a rug is just as natural in the home as stone and wood: "The [pouf] is a natural part of the Björk collection, just like the stumps in a birch forest. They are a piece of furniture that is light and soft in its expression." For the Bjork pouf, Lena has drawn inspiration from the rough black and white graphical structure of the birch tree's trunk. The color tones of Bjork create a marbled effect through a warp of cotton intertwined with a weft in wool, known not only for its softness, but also for its in-built resistance to dirt.

    shophorne.com
Asplund is one of Sweden’s leading design and interior firms formed more than 24 years ago. Continuing with top-of-the-line quality, the Asplund collection represents simplicity and elegant design. Influenced by their Swedish heritage along with very stylish & timeless designs, Asplund is considered the best Scandinavian brand with numerous design awards such as Elle Decor, Red Dot Design and Wallpaper* magazine. Asplund's collection is produced mainly in Sweden, ensuring the highest quality, while observing ethical and environmentally friendly production processes. Asplund is aware of their social responsibility as a producer to make furniture that will last a lifetime and that several generations can enjoy. The products are designed in cooperation with well- known swedish and international designers such as Marc Newson, Jasper Morrison, Tom Dixon, Broberg Ridderstråle, Piero Lissoni, Andreas Engesvik, Thomas Sandell, Jonas Bohlin and Claesson Koivisto Rune. The TS chair was designed for the Modern Museum in Stockholm. Functionality was important, so Thomas Sandell created a stackable chair that could easily be put away. The standard color is white blended with the natural wooden color at the bottom of the legs so the chair looks like it is lifting from the floor. Typical of both Sandell and Asplund, this chair is completely contemporary while still making references to traditional rural Swedish design. Its narrow width makes it suitable for limited spaces, both at home and in restaurants. Available With Or Without Unpainted "sock" at bottom of leg. Available in other Asplund standard colors if ordering more than 4 pieces.

    shophorne.com
At Menu we are obsessed with clever solutions for modern living. We want to make beautiful objects for everyday use, whether that’s an indispensable item of kitchen equipment, a clever floating shelf or a beautiful vase that adds the finishing touch to your living space.Wherever we can, we work locally with craftspeople around the world, preserving skills while creating the best modern design. German designer Theresa Arns was experimenting with ways of combining a table and storage when she stumbled upon the idea of a lid that opens by rotating it around one of the legs. The result is elegant, unpretentious and utterly addictive (show it to guests and they will be opening and shutting Turning Table for hours). “My design is quite functional,” says Theresa. “But I also think it’s important that the objects we surround ourselves with have a warm and poetic part.”

  • Normann Copenhagen Ace Chair
    shophorne.com
Flat-packed upholstered lounge furniture sounds like a crazy idea. Hans Hornemann considered it a requirement that the function did not involve any compromise with the design. Ace is constructed from molded plywood, covered with molded foam for the highest possible comfort. The back is flexible, which gives it a springy feeling, ensuring great sitting comfort. In order to reach the goal of this ambitious project, Normann Copenhagen has specially developed production tools, brackets, screws, legs and fabrics. Ace combines intelligent engineering with an elegant visual impression. Ace is delivered in two attractive fabrics, a vibrant velour and a flecked wool textile, as well as soft, exclusive leather. The woollen textile, “Nist”, has been developed in-house by Normann Copenhagen to complete the characteristic visual style. Nist is manufactured using an untraditional weaving technique and contains 52 percent linen, which produces an attractive natural flecking of the fabric. The velour brings Ace a seductive elegance, while Nist gives the chair a more stringent, masculine look. Ace has legs in stained beech, in the same colour tones as the fabrics for a uniform expression. The stain allows the wood’s natural flame patterns to shine through and adds a discrete play to the monochrome colour universe consisting of five inviting shades. In addition to the Ace lounge chair, the Ace collection includes a sofa, a dining table chair and a footstool. Legs: Stained Beech (for Textile), Painted Oak (for Black Leather) or Lacquered Oak (for Brandy Leather). Nist Fabric Colors ( 52 % Flax, 45 % Virgin Wool 3 % Polyamide): Velour Fabric Colors (100% Polyester): Leather:

A footstool is also available for the Era collection, allowing ample opportunity for comfortable relaxation and rest for the feet. Choose between two lovely wool textiles with a vivid feel and beautiful structures, or soft, durable leather in a vast number of colors. Simon Legald says: ”It took a while to get the proportions and the interaction between the soft curves and straight lines on the shells just right. It was crucial that the upholstering and stitching were carried out with the utmost precision. I wanted to create individual chairs where each one had its own character. I did this through the variations of the high and low versions, and by the different frames available for the chair. For example, the wooden frames are flat and add warmth while the slimmer, round steel and chrome frames give a more industrial feel. Finally, the frame for the rocking chair is a slightly unexpected and playful choice for a lounge chair.” Priced with Gabriel Breeze Fusion upholstery-other materials available.

The leather cushions are for indoor use only. The series has an armchair, lounge chair, sofa, and cocktail tables in 2 sizes as well as 3 sizes of a dining table. • Normann Copenhagen Era Sofa
    shophorne.com
Normann Copenhagen expands the popular Era lounge series, designed by Simon Legald, with a two-seat sofa with well- proportioned design, a sharp silhouette and a contemporary expression. The series' DNA is clearly evident in the sofa's soft curves and sleek lines, which express a sophisticated calm that invites the sitter to pure and unreserved relaxation. The small sofa is once again highly relevant after several years dominated by larger sofas. Its simple design, with tight-fitted upholstery and wooden legs originated back in the blossoming functionalism of the 1930s and '40s, as a rebellion against the bulky, Victorian style of the time. Today, there is a growing need for more flexible furnishings - in public as well as private spaces. Many factors, including less space, many different activities and a need to be online have affected our way of being together. This has created a need for personal space for the individual within the room. The practical size of the Era sofa allows it to easily accommodate furnishing needs in both large and small homes. This is combined with an incredibly strong construction that makes it well-suited for public spaces. The series combines modern manufacturing methods with traditional furniture craftsmanship in a timeless and characterful design. Simon Legald has this to say about the sofa: "It took a long time to get the proportions and the interplay between the soft curves and the tight lines of the shell completely right. It was crucial, that the upholstery and the stitching was carried out with the utmost artisanal precision. One nice detail, for example, is that we did not use canvas, but instead upholstered the sofa with textile across the entire shell. For the seat cushion, we have prioritized a solution using custom-cut foam, so that it sits perfectly inside the seat." Just like the series' lounge chairs; the Era sofa is available with a frame in oak, walnut, black lacquered steel or chrome, and with a rocking frame in chrome. Choose between three gorgeous woolen textiles with a vibrant expression and beautiful structure, or soft and resilient leather in a countless variety of color. The era sofa is available in other textile and colors in addition to the Breeze Fusion textile shown below. Please contact us regarding other colors. • Modernica Shell Side Chair - Prince Charles Base
    shophorne.com
In 2009, Peter Shire and the Modernica Studio teamed up and designed the Prince Charles Base. By combining the modern and the classic, the chair has been described as a distant cousin of Queen Anne. “Shire’s interpretation on the modern classic incorporates 300-years of furniture design into a single chair. By giving the signature shell chair a set of violin-like legs, Shire’s adds a touch of the Victorian era to the seat.” Easily one of the most important and recognizable designs of the twentieth century. The Fiberglass Shell Chairs were originally designed in 1948, as an entry in The Museum of Modern Art’s International Design Competition. At the time, no one could possibly have anticipated the massive success and longevity of this iconoclastic design. In the early fifties, fiberglass was considered an ultra-high tech material. Produced with a mixture of resin and glass fibers, it was lightweight, yet heavy-duty. Initial development and production was through Zenith Plastics—early pioneers of developing fiberglass for household and military applications. As for the chair bases, they were cleverly designed to provide a number of leg options that would be interchangeable within and between the arm shell and the side shell. The shell chairs were first available in the spring of 1950. The first runs of the chairs were produced in only three colors; griege, elephant-hide gray, and parchment—all of which had interesting translucent qualities. The chairs were distributed until 1983. In 2000, Modernica revived this potentially lost art of high-pressure, molded fiberglass. Modernica creates each shell, by hand, one-by-one, in our Los Angeles factory—just as they had been designed, developed, and produced in Southern California in the 1950s. Modernica uses all of the original presses and specialized equipment obtained from Century Plastics. To ensure authenticity of production, the initial shell chair production was overseen by Sol Fingerhut and Irv Green, the same team employed over sixty years ago to develop the original technology. Modernica creates each chair with the charge of adhering to the original tactile qualities, texture, and characteristics that alone are unique to the fiberglass shell chair. Our historic equipment has created thousands of chairs for three generations of chair lovers — and everyday Modernica continues to produce beautiful chairs for upcoming generations. Choose from a wide range of shell colors and chair base options. Modernica offers the flexibility to build a chair to suit your individual style and needs. Please note that due to the nature of fiberglass, some "hairs" may vary in darkness and color due to the singeing/burning process used to create the seat. These fibers add to the uniqueness of each chair. Handcrafted in Los Angeles, U.S.A.
