READ: (sophia's story)

Ezra walked into his apartment, a cardboard box full of books, essays and other knick-knacks he had collected. It was just past 10 o'clock in the morning when he was walking in.

Just as he put the box on the coffee table, the phone began to ring, leaving him to scour around the apartment looking for it.

"Hello?" he answered it, starting to unpack.

"Hi, Ezra." the familiar, feminine voice on the other end of the life made his heart skip a beat, but not in a good way.

He cleared his throat, trying to find the words, "What's going on, Jillian?"

There was a brief pause, just long enough for Ezra to find a place for a small portion of his Edgar Allen Poe collection and return the box to the kitchen. "I'm in Rosewood for the next few days...I was wondering if you would mind meeting me for coffee somewhere or something? Elijah, stop it!"

"I don't know, Jill..." he started, slowly, "There's a lot going on right now...and I'm kind of seeing someone..."

He could just see her biting her lip and nodding, "There's just something really important I have to tell you."

"And what would that be?" he asked, filling the coffee maker with water and finding the "brew" button.

"You have a son."

"That's it?" Aria asked, astounded. "She just called you up and dropped a bomb like that?'

He nodded, burying his head in his hands and sighing heavily, "Why not tell me when she was pregnant? Or when the kid was born? Why when he's almost a year old?"

"I don't know..." Aria patted his shoulder, scooting closer to him on their couch. He could smell her perfume, lingering very faintly in the air.

"So, I guess I should meet her?" he asked, more himself than her, but he looked at her, slightly hoping she would say no.

She bit her bottom lip and blinked a few times before shrugging, looking down, "I think you have to..."

He leaned against the back of the couch, looking at her, "I just want to have one weekend with you, where we're out of Rosewood and there's no drama, and it's just you and me." he took one of her hands in his and used his other to rest on the back of the couch. "You know?"

"I do..." she nodded, kissing him, "it's what I want everyday."

He smiled and returned her kiss, wrapping his arms tightly around her and then leaning back, pulling her into him so that he was lying on his back and she was curled on her side on top of them. The pizza box was still steaming, letting its warm, fresh aroma invade their apartment, with a bottle of Chateau le Bouscat, unopened with two wine glasses beside it.

"I'm so glad I met you." she said, softly, running her fingers lightly from his ear, down his jaw.

He sighed, "I'm so glad I still have you." he tightened his arms around her, laying claim to the rest of the (not present) world that Aria Montgomery was his and always would be.

She smiled and sat up, "Let's get drunk!" she suggested, smiling brightly while she reached for the bottle of red wine.
