  • Oscar Armchair by Matthew Hilton
    shophorne.com
The Oscar armchair strikes a pleasing balance between modernity and tradition, large in size yet light in appearance. The armchair is made from a European hardwood frame, jute webbing and hessian straps and then covered with a mix of materials that includes natural fibers, animal hair and wool. It features large feather cushions that are notable for their depth, the back has a line of sewn in pulls, lending the armchair the appearance of a buttoned back, without the actual buttons. The feet are made from walnut stained beech, with the front two being turned versions. By contrasting long straight lines with delicate natural curves, Mathew Hilton has created a piece that is both reserved and full of humility. The Oscar armchair is a piece perfect for those who like their modernity laced with a little familiarity. Made in the UK. Shown here in Molly 160 Wool and Range Leather. Additional fabrics available upon request.

The Series 7 Chair debuted in 1955 at the H55 exhibition in Sweden, and the appeal of what remains one of the most copied chairs of the modern era is its shape. The chair is ideally suited to the human body, its seatback has a comfortable “give,” and its waterfall seat edge doesn’t press into legs. Arne Jacobsen, who was instilled with a love of, shaped the core of Danish design identity when he accommodated three different bends in one piece of plywood, simply by narrowing the chair back. Once painstakingly made by hand, the Series 7 is now produced using automation methods borrowed from the German car industry and monitored by a team that ensures the authentic Series 7 is perfect every time. Suitable for contract use. Stacks six high. This is the authentic Series 7 Collection by Republic of Fritz Hansen. Made in Denmark. Choose from nine options of Colored Ash, a durable stain that keeps the wood grain visible, making each chair unique.
  • Fritz Hansen - Serie 7 Stuhl monochromatic
    connox.com
Series 7 – monochromatic from head to toes The Series 7, which was designed by Arne Jacobsen 1955, is the admiral of the Fritz Hansen collection. The chair still convinces with its withdrawing appearance and the functional versatility. Fritz Hansen presents the classic chair with new colours by the artist Tal R with suitable bases in 2015 in the event of the 60 th birthday of the designer. Lacquered or painted The seat of pressed veneer of the Series 7 is available in two variants as monochromatic edition. One of them with a varnished seat out of ash wood and another one lacquered. The difference: The painted edition keeps the typical and individual wooden grain of the seat visible, which emphasizes the natural appearance and silhouette of the Series 7. The lacquered models are special with their silky and uniform seat. The wooden grain is covered with an opaque colour-layer in this case. Both editions – the painted and the lacquered monochromatic models – are available in the classic non-colours black and white as well as in two tones of the range of colours of the artist Tal R: Chavalier Irange, an Orient influenced orange tone which is the most exclusive of the new colours according to Tal R, and in Trieste Blue, a mix of violet and blue. Lacquered from head to toes The monochromatic model convinces with its unitary tranquilizing appearance. The classic four legged base appears in the same colour as the seat. The two elements of the chair become a harmonic unity this way. The Series 7 by Arne Jacobsen deserves to belong to the classic chairs of furniture history, since the different modules, colours and bases offer many individual configurations, adapted to everyone. The chair is available in further colours and with different bases and cushions in here on demand. Also in our blog: The Fritz Hansen Series 7 Chair: Monochrome design

Each leg stands on nylon gliders, compatible to almost every ground. The round design of the armchair is simple, elegant and pleasant for the eye and the body. A footstool is also available for the Era collection, allowing ample opportunity for comfortable relaxation and rest for the feet. Choose between two lovely wool textiles with a vivid feel and beautiful structures, or soft, durable leather in a vast number of colors. Simon Legald says: ”It took a while to get the proportions and the interaction between the soft curves and straight lines on the shells just right. It was crucial that the upholstering and stitching were carried out with the utmost precision. I wanted to create individual chairs where each one had its own character. I did this through the variations of the high and low versions, and by the different frames available for the chair. For example, the wooden frames are flat and add warmth while the slimmer, round steel and chrome frames give a more industrial feel. Finally, the frame for the rocking chair is a slightly unexpected and playful choice for a lounge chair.” Priced with Gabriel Breeze Fusion upholstery-other materials available.
