Fritz Hansen Swan chair Armchair
  • Arne Jacobsen Swan Chair in Milani Fabric
    dwr.com
Before the Swan Chair (1958), Arne Jacobsen’s architecture and designs were shaped by an assumption of’ natural ways of resisting. In other words, he could make them go only so far in becoming the structures he desired. With new technologies, however, the old rules no longer applied, and he was able to shape fluid curves and single-piece molded shells. The Swan Chair is now made from polyurethane foam, but at the time, Jacobsen used Styropore® to create its continuous shape. Designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, for which Jacobsen was the architect, the chair permitted guests to spin on its swivel base, thus becoming active participants in the busy hotel atmosphere. A single upholsterer hand-sews the fabric onto the frame of Swan. Original design and licensed manufacture by Republic of Fritz Hansen. Made in Poland.

The internationally famous, Spanish designer Jaime Hayon designed the armchair of the future together with Fritz Hansen. An armchair, which offers relaxation and a little time-out for you, away from the stressful day by day. Time to think is luxury nowadays. We all have a lot of work and hardly time to stop and think a little while. The Ro armchair from Fritz Hansen comes from the desire of furniture which will make us stop running for a moment. Ro is more than an armchair. It has 1½ seats, to relax in them, to find a comfortable position in it, to read newspapers or to configure the computer or spend time with the children - a new comfort zone. The design of the seat is simple, elegant and pleasant for the eyes and the body. In its visual expression and the comfortable functionality, Ro guarantees quietness and relaxation. Moreover the clever shape of the seat makes it possible for you to decide whether to be part of what’s happening in the room you’re in or to enter your own small comfort zone. The design premises of Fritz Hansen for the designer Jaime Hayon said that he should create “a comfortable seat for single persons”. ”We focussed on the shape of the armchair, which is inspired by the human body. Our aim was to create an armchair which would be as comfortable as beautiful. I wanted to create a slim, elegant armchair to think and sit comfortably”, explained Jaime Hayon. “Ro” means quietness on Danish. This name was chosen because it describes the character of the armchair with only two characters and which perfectly expresses the Scandinavian concept for aesthetics that way. The Ro armchair is made by Fritz Hansen according to the highest quality and processing standards. The result of this unique interplay of sculptural and elegant design is a functional and aesthetically appealing armchair, which attracts glimpses in every environment. One can only fall in love with it, since Ro doesn’t compromise in comfort or aestheticism. The relax armchair is available in nine colours: in three traditional colours (black, grey and taupe), in three shiny colours (violet, blue and yellow) and in three soft colours (light pink, sage green and sand). The armchair has different surface structures for the seat and the upholstery for a more dynamic appearance, emphasizing the contrast between the hard outside and the warm, softer inside.

  • Fritz Hansen - Minuscule Chair
    connox.com
Minuscule is a chair, which impresses with its withdrawing, Scandinavian style. This designer’s piece made by Cecilie Manz fits in different rooms without any problems. The name “Minuscule” was chosen by Fritz Hansen and the Danish designer Cecilie Manz, since the chair represents unconstrained, decent style, which also characterizes Danish design in general. The also clever and uncomplicated Minuscule chair is characterized by its material: The chair connects tradition and craftsmanship with industrial processing. The seat is upholstered with a weightless but durable fabric and hand-sewn, whereby a fine leather detail emphasizes its contours. The aesthetically swung bowls are held by a frame out of plastic. This material is a contrast and also a pleasant, contemporaneous completion of the whole image. The source of inspiration for the design details: stones that floated through the sea, reaching the beach. The soft lines of the frame also have that softness. The upholstery of the outside bowl is available in two grey tones as well as in black/white. Grey is a colour which fascinates Cecilie Manz a lot, since it is the only tone that is able to absorb all the other ones. The different colours of the bowl are combinable with different upholsteries as well. The possible colour combinations of backside and upholstery of seat are represented in the document below. The Fritz Hansen Minuscule chair fits in different surroundings: in public rooms, in offices or in private homes. The Minuscule chair is completed by the table of the series: Minuscule Table. • Fritz Hansen Egg chair Armchair
    madeindesign.co.uk
Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg for the lobby and reception areas in the Royal Hotel, in Copenhagen. The commission to design every element of the hotel building as well as the furniture was Jacobsen's grand opportunity to put his theories of integrated design and architecture into practice. The Egg is one of the triumphs of Jacobsen's total design - a sculptural contrast to the building's almost exclusively vertical and horizontal surfaces. The Egg sprang from a new technique, which Jacobsen was the first to use : a strong foam inner shell underneath the upholstery. Like a sculptor, Jacobsen strove to find the shell's perfect shape in clay at home in his own garage. Because of the unique shape, the Egg guarantees a bit of privacy in otherwise public spaces and the Egg - with or without footstool - is ideal for lounge and waiting areas as well as the home. The Egg is available in a wide variety of fabric upholstery as well as leather, always combined with a star shaped base in satin polished aluminium. In detail: Type : Armchair. Colour : Brown leather. Material : Shell : polyurethane foam with glass fibre reinforcement - Polished aluminium base. Dimensions : W 86 cm x D 79 to 95 cm x H 107 cm - Seat : H 37 cm. Characteristics : Swiveling base - Adjustable backrest.

Simple elegance, a typical Kjærholm design - with the combination of steel and leather with an adjustable, leather headrest - in an exclusive and minimalist design. The discrete and elegant PK24 chaise stands as an icon for Poul Kjærholm's work. He was a trained carpenter who continued studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He moved on to work at Fritz Hansen, for about a year, where he designed a number of noteworthy chair prototypes. In 1955, Kjærholm started collaborating with manufacturer Ejvind Kold Christensen, which lasted until his death in 1980. In 1982, Fritz Hansen took over the production and sales of "The Kjærholm Collection", developed from 1951 to 1967, designs, which are logical to the minute detail with an aura of exclusivity. • Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk Raleigh Armchair in Leather

Raleigh (2009) is a comfortable, modern collection that draws from mid-century Danish design. Wrapping around the back of this Sofa is a solid walnut frame (be sure to click on Additional Views to see it) that brings visual lightness and satisfying aesthetic tension to the design. There's also a very functional reason for the way that this frame triangulates to the back of the Sofa. Namely, that it permits a gracefully canted and ergonomic seatback while still solidly supporting you as you relax and unwind. DWR Design Studio chose to work with Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk on this project because of the importance they place on people – how they move, interact, live, and most of all, sit. Made in U.S.A. Best of Year! The Raleigh Collection received Interior Design magazine's top honor for 2010 in the residential lounge category. The angled, high back comfortably supports your upper body. Visible from the side and back, this Sofa is cradled in a solid walnut frame. Down-blend filled back cushions have removable covers for cleaning.
