Settle Down | Kimbra

Romantic Vintage Ballet Flats - Le Bunny Bleu

I remember one of my friends showing me the 'Settle Down' music video months ago but I forgot who even sang it and what it was called. It's been haunting me though. It's such a lovely video. I'm watching the doll episode of Criminal Minds so I couldn't help but dig up what that music video was. I couldn't believe it was by Kimbra, the same 'Somebody That I Used to Know' Kimbra.

The music video is so perfect and reminds me so much of Betty Draper from Mad Men. It reminds me of the entire 1950s housewife era. I remember when I was little my father bought me a Barbie magazine (Barbie Bazaar) and I was so fascinated by the vintage Barbies. I regret throwing out that magazine so much because I would spend hours staring at the pictures of the first Barbie dream houses and appreciating how lovely things used to be. In a way the 'Settle Down' video represents how I grew up. I wore dresses everyday, I had long blonde hair, I loved to play dress up, I had a case full of lipstick from dance, I had dozens of Barbies, and I was the stereotypical girly girl. In many ways I'm still that same little girl, but I'm much more independent. I used to be desperate for a guy in my life and now I'm perfectly content with being alone. I don't even know if I want to get married.
