Lee Hi's new single is one word:
She's got such a soulful voice and it carries this bluesy quality that I love. She's definitely a talented rookie, to be sure (of course, she'd kind of have to be considering she won K-Pop Star, right?)
The MV is impressive, as expected of YGE. The sets are bold and there's a lot going on, but it all fits. Definitely not a set you'd expect of a rookie. The outfits are cute (in some instances, but it's YGE and crazy/weird is kinda their style). The back-up dancers are awesome, too.
There's only one thing I don't like about this. It's not really a big thing, I guess. It's just... Lee Hi is exceptionally awkward. Most of the MV was a bit painful to watch because of it. Her facial expressions/movements are definitely telling of a rookie artist. Honestly, I think YG should have given her a bit more training before her debut. It seems a bit rushed. I mean, she's talented, definitely! She's cute and has amazing vocals... she's still too awkward. It's not her fault, though. She just needs to grow and experience more of an idol life. Once she does that, she'll definitely be a formidable force in the industry.
Other than Lee Hi's awkwardness (which was kinda cute, I won't lie), everything was nice. Unexpected of a newly debuted artist, but nice.
I think I'll enjoy watching her grow and mold herself into a more impressive artist. c:
(Still, YG, seriously. You shouldn't have rushed her debut. Having good vocals and a pretty face is one thing, but if they're THAT awkward during an MV filming, you've rushed the debut. I know, debut MVs are inherently awkward as a general rule HOWEVER -- this doesn't really excuse YG's rushing. He seemed to be in such a hurry to debut her that he forgot the most fundamental part of an idol's arsenal -- presence. There were times when Lee Hi faded into the background and I was more interested in looking at the background/back -up dancers than her. That shouldn't happen. The ARTIST should be the main focus, but Lee Hi ended up getting lost. With more training, the MV would have been even better and Lee Hi would've taken the spotlight. Again, through no fault of her own. Poor girl literally just got into YG a month or two ago and she's already debuting? I've heard of shotgun weddings, but shotgun debuts? Seriously, YG. Seriously. Side-eyeing you rn.)
Totally unrelated, but I forced myself to update. I tend to get really lazy if I put something off, so I'll take this as a good thing. Forcing myself to make sets will get me back into the habit of posting more often. Hopefully that same method will translate over to RP groups and whatnot. lol
