UPDATES : )
1. This past week has been the usual. I haven't been able to get on here because I got my first detention of the year [yay...] and I've been after school every day in English. That sounds really horrible, and at first it was. But my teacher's been taking the time to stay after with me to help me get my English grades up, especially because I got stuck in AP English against my will, and it's actually been helping! She's been showing me how to construct essays better, and probably for the first time in my life it actually makes sense [probably because she showed me a few formats and compared them to math problems, where you just have to plug in the correct information and viola, you have an essay]. I'm actually kind of glad she's doing this so I've gone easy on the back talk in English class lately ; )
2. This weekend is going to be another busy one. Yesterday after school we had to come straight home because we were invited to have supper at Dad and Diana's coworker's house, so we had to come back right away, change out of our uniforms, and pile into the cab Dad called for to take us to Connecticut, where he lives. It sounds like it would have been boring, but it wasn't actually that bad. They have a funny eight year old son that we hung around with [he likes practical jokes and so do we, and even though he seems to be an experienced prankster we still got him with a couple], and it was nice to drive out to Connecticut when the fall leaves are really starting to change. And after we came home, Diana and Jen and I walked to a bakery to pick up a cake to eat in a [late] celebration of Dad and Diana's one-year wedding anniversary.
Earlier today I was babysitting Ella and took her to the Bleecker Street playground, but we came back early. It's really starting to feel like fall [especially when after we came home, I made some hot chocolate and Ella flicked on the television and It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown was on]. This afternoon Jen and I are gonna go to a friend of her's place, but I'm going to see if I can drag her out any earlier to go to CP so I can try and snap pictures of everything. [Hey, I realized I don't really make sets anymore with what I'm wearing. So if you're just DYING to know, I'm in brown corduroy pants and this awesome shirt, it's baggy and white and it has this huge gold pattern and rhinestones on it. And when I go outside, a jacket, because... "It's beginning to feel a lot, like, au-tumn..." - to the tune of It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas if you didn't catch that - and my hair is still that caramel color and longer again, so I have it back in a french braid today. Yuuup] Maybe I'll update about all that later [about afternoon plans, not what I'm wearing, hahaha].
As for tomorrow... jeez, I don't know what our plans are. Ella has a friend that goes to a public school here in the city and their school is having a fall festival, and she expressed an interest in going so we're probably going to do that. WHEN AM I GOING TO HAVE TIME FOR HOMEWORK? :P
3. Stuff coming up for me - College Trips and the Halloween Hop and, of course, Halloween itself. Remember how all summer I was talking about how in the coming October, my dad and I were going to visit colleges? Well... that weekend is unfortunately this coming weekend and that means that from this coming Friday afternoon to this coming Sunday afternoon, my father and I are going to be road-trippin' it [well... not too far... after all, we're talking my father here], looking at colleges here in NYC and its general vicinity. Except for Harvard [egh], which is like a four hour drive or something. [sarcasm] YIPEE. Since we only have a weekend and Harvard's that far away, and besides universities here in the city I don't really have a desire to see other schools, I have a bad feeling that this is just a setup for a Harvard weekend even though my father knows I AM NOT going there. And speaking of el padre, he has been extremely distressed lately about the fact that I'm a junior and seem to have no clue about what I want to do... which is true. I was always leaning the attorney route, but I've just kind of lost interest in it. The problem is, I have no idea what I want to do instead.
The Halloween Hop is the school Halloween dance. [Who knew our school had so many dances???] You can come in costume or not, and I haven't decided what I'm doing yet.
And of course, last but not least is Halloween itself. So far the plan is that I'm taking Ella trick or treating, probably in Greenwich Village. That's for a few reasons - you can always trick or treat in your apartment building, however 1. That takes a lot of the fun out of trick or treating because you're stuck in one building all night and 2. Our building doesn't exactly encourage trick-or-treating anyway. Sometimes apartment buildings in places like the Upper East or Upper West Sides do, where more families live, but we live in the FiDi and our building just has adults that have jobs here. Besides, Greenwich Village is probably the funnest [I know...not a word...just excuse it] place in NYC to trick or treat because the Halloween Parade is happening and you can trick or treat at stores as well, small delis or whatever. Sometimes they hand out candy.
Adios : )
