  • Original BTC Titan 3 Pendant & Diffuser - Yellow
    shophorne.com
We love the classic industrial look of the Titan Pendant. Designer Peter Bowles used an actual mold from the 1940's that produced these lamps for offices and factories at the time, but then he updated it for a more modern setting. We think it's an ideal choice for a kitchen, dining room, or workspace, since it is mostly downward lighting. But, if brightness isn't your thing, it comes with a frosted glass diffuser to give a softened, glowing light. The lamp is UL listed and suitable for commercial spaces. This lamp is the larger version of the Titan 1. Manufactured in a factory in the UK dedicated to green manufacturing practices. 150W (max) incandescent or compact fluorescent bulb. 5' black braided cable and aluminum ceiling rosette. White interior. Includes frosted glass diffuser for a softening of the light.

Architect George Nelson, who was Herman Miller’s design director from 1946 to 1972, said: “Every truly original idea seems to find its most important expression in a chair.” And then he blew the doors off lighting design. When Nelson was outfitting his office, he coveted a silk-covered Swedish hanging lamp but found it prohibitively expensive. He then recalled seeing a photo in the paper of Liberty ships being mothballed “by having the decks covered with netting and then being sprayed with a self-webbing plastic,” said Nelson. “And then, Whammo!” Inspiration struck, and by the next night, Nelson had designed his first Bubble Lamp® (1947), using a spray coating of translucent plastic polymer over a skeleton of steel wire. “When you put a light in it, it glowed.” A wide range of shapes and sizes are now available.
