  • Menu Design Menu - Kettle Teapot
    connox.com
Kettle from Menu is a traditional teapot in a modern design and a tribute to the pleasant and relaxing act of drinking tea. The design from Kettle was coined by Norm Architects. The teapot consists of glass and possesses a practical tea egg in its middle with whose help you can brew your tea as fresh as possible. Meanwhile tea became a natural part of a healthy lifestyle and the brewing of the hot drink a nearby meditative ritual. ”Tea is as much as a cup of hot water. We believe that the whole health use that tea possesses, deserves a beautiful teapot in which one can see how the tea brews” , said the designers Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and Kasper Rønn from Norm Architects. With this background thought the designers from Norm designed the “Kettle” for Menu. It is a transparent mixture out of Asian Zen-philosophy and modern Scandinavian Architecture – in which two traditions embrace each other. With its visual transparency the kettle guarantees ann optical experience of tea, with a real Scandinavian touch. A pretty and at the same time practical detail in the middle of the kettle is the tea-egg. If the tea has brewed long enough one simply pulls the egg out of it by the silicone tie. ”The traditional red silk tie in old books inspired us to create the silicone tie. Moreover we added a small label, similar to those from a teabag” , is what the Norm designers said.

Topped with a floral finial, the Fleurs teapot is a charming curiosity: creative yet functional, and replete with a sense of humor. Handmade on the Rue St. Honoré in Paris, these 18th-century inspired ceramics are crafted in a traditional pottery style passed down from generations. Hand molded from black terracotta, each piece is finished in a milky-white glaze that highlights the unique character of the clay, celebrating its imperfections and ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike. Romantically bohemian, yet practical for every day use, they are entirely handcrafted in an antique Bastille workshop, historically home to Napoleon Bonaparte's own silversmith.
