  • George Nelson Bubble Pendant - Crisscross Saucer
    shophorne.com
First designed in 1947, the George Nelson Bubble Lamp Collection has stood the test of time. The simple structural shapes with the innovative use of taut plastic over fine steel wire were born from George NelsonÕs frustration to buy a Swedish-made silk lamp which produced a soft light. This unique use of shape and material produces a diffused light that is free of glare while offering an abundance of illumination. These pieces are part of the permanent collection in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and remain icons in modern lighting. Modernica discovered these designs and reintroduced the series in 1989 with a dedication to reproducing these stunning, classic lights with authenticity and craftsmanship. Modernica still uses the same materials and methods to hand craft each piece in their Michigan facility. The crisscross pattern the Crisscross Saucer Pendant adds a depth to the pattern with the same lighting qualities. It is available in 2 sizes, with 6 feet of cord and a 5.25 inch brushed nickel ceiling plate.
