  • Teca mini - Renaissance Cupola and Victorian Grandeur Table Lamp By FLOS
    2modern.com
Bring the Museum Home. The Teca collection by Ron Gilad for Flos represents an historical archive of the abat-jour, taking inspiration from the classic lampshade shapes of significant eras and cultures to create contemporary icons. Teca shades are showcased in museum boxes as a way of celebrating form, function, material and antiquity. Renaissance Cupola : Era | 15th Century, The Cupola takes its cues from the Italian Renaissance, one monument of which was sculptor and architect Filippo Brunelleschi’s magnificently domed Florence cathedral. With this dome, Brunelleschi revived a Hellenistic architectural element that had languished for centuries. Little domes called “cupolas” often capped prominent buildings, offering vast vistas in a literal sense, as well as broader – metaphorical – perspectives. Some, fitted with glass panes and candles or electric lights, illuminated the cities around them and were referred to as “lanterns.” Victorian Grandeur : Era | Mid-19th Century, Designers of the Victorian era exulted in the advent of industrial production and increasingly pliant materials such as rubber and cast iron, resulting in the plush decoration and dark, extravagant clutter that marked even the most utilitarian objects of the midcentury. It is no accident that this voluptuous Victorian shade resembles a corset. The attitude during this period towards sexuality was famously fraught: While prudish Victorians dressed "naked" table legs with skirts, others inaugurated a cheeky cultural conversation about sensuality and eroticism. The Grandeur then, like London’s 1851 Crystal Palace exhibition, evokes the rococo social conventions and lavish breeding of the time. Features. Designed by Ron Gilad, 2009. Materials: ABS, Fabric, Methacrylate, Stainless steel. Type: Table Lamp. Mounting: Table Top. Base in injection-molded ABS in semi-gloss white. Teca in extra-clear glass with edges cut at 45° and UV glued. Front plate in stainless steel with the name of the represented style etched by laser. A touch switch near the plate has the ON/OFF and dimmer functions. Switch on cord. Specifications: Dimensions (inches): Overall: 7.48W x 7.48D x 8.26H. Cord Length: 59. Lamp type: Halogen. Bulbs: 1 x 25W 120V T4 G9 Frosted Halogen (included) Environment: Indoor - Dry Location.

Swedish architect and designer Greta Magnusson Grossman broke through gender barriers to embark on a prolific career. • Gregg Table Lamp By Foscarini
    2modern.com
A product of natural inspiration and extensive research, Gregg’s shape is reminiscent of a large pebble, its surface polished by the water. It could even be seen as the egg of some mythological beast, a symbol of creation and re-birth. Pure volume with a familiar ease of interpretation, yet one that is surprising, because Gregg’s asymmetric shape changes depending on the point of view of the person observing it. This is a new solution where a traditional material like glass becomes a tool in the designer’s hands to give an original character to an environment. There are three different sizes in the hanging, table, ceiling and wall versions and four different solutions for the floor lamp: the Gregg collection is one of the most versatile and transversal and can be easily placed in any type of setting. In the home environment, the warm, uniform light produced by the white satined diffuser and its essential style has a strong functional and decorative value. Thanks to the closed shape of the diffuser, the bulb is screened in all directions, which protects from dazzle and makes it easy to place even at different heights. When part of a composition, Gregg is suitable for some of the most surprising uses. A ’raindrop’ structure highlights the vertical extension of a window or stairway, producing an extremely striking effect. Vertical arrangement of a multitude of suspensions at various heights generates spectacular luminous false ceilings. The repetition of the volume along a line produces new perspectives to create trompe l’oeil effect. Table or floor lamp with diffused light. Features. Gregg Collection. Designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, 2007. Made in Italy. Materials: White satin finish hand-blown diffuser achieved using glass blowing procedure without turning the glass in the mold (referred to as "stationary"), subject to immersion in acid. The glass in the medium and large version is incorporated with a matt transparent injection molded polycarbonate ring nut, which is in white polycarbonate in the small version. White epoxy powder coated metal supporting base and matt injection molded transparent polycarbonate lamp holder support. Type: Table lamp. Color: White. Available in 3 sizes: Small, Medium and Large. The dimmer for the gradual brightness adjustment is fitted on the transparent cable for large and black medium version. Specifications. Dimensions (inches): Small / 5.1 in D: Overall: 5.1D x 4.3H x 4.3W; Cable length: 67. Medium / 12.2 in D: Overall: 12.2D x 10.25H x 10.25W; Cable length: 74.5. With the first part of the name being for the factory that produced it, the latter is an amalgam of Dell and idee , the German word for “idea.” Brought back into production by Fritz Hansen in 2011, the collection is crafted to the designer’s original specifications, including his worldwide-patented swivel joint for shade adjustability – revolutionary in 1931.
