The unmistakable silhouette of the Grasshopper Floor lamp has become an icon of mid-twentieth century design. The original lamp, designed in the 1940s and 50s by the late Californian-based, but Swedish-born Gretta Grossman, was heavily influenced by European modernism. The continental movement was imported to the US by celebrated architects, such as Waletr Gropius (founder of the Bauhaus) and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Grossman, herself played an important role in shaping the aesthetic of mid-century North American modernism. First produced in 1947, the tubular steel tripod stand is tilted backwards, while an elongated aluminium conical shade is ball-jointed onto the arm, in order to direct the light precisely. Both the stand and the shade are powder-coated for protection, and the contemporary model takes a 60W bulb (not included). Dimension: 43.5cm (w)x 125.5cm (d)

  • Fork Floor Lamp By Diesel Living with Foscarini
    2modern.com
The Fork lampshade is inspired by casual fashion, by campsite tents and by an informal, playful and dynamic lifestyle. The stitching on the fabric has been created like that on jeans and the rings are not merely decorative, but respond to practical needs with simplicity and immediacy. The light inside reveals a patchwork structure and the texture of the canvas, a little like when you turn on a light inside a tent. The lampshade is extremely flexible and can be oriented 360°. The stand of the floor is also very mobile, thanks to its joints: this means you can change the direction of the light as you please, play with the lamp and have fun continually finding new positions for it. Floor lamp with diffused and direct light. The outline of the matt satin finish polycarbonate diffuser is covered with pure linen fabric, with a purposely-uneven weft and warp of the fabric achieved by hand. The fabric is stained and undergoes anti-fray treatment; it is then cut into pieces and tailored by hand using a sewing machine with visible seams. The brass eyelets are galvanized in gun barrel color. A special locking and sliding system positions the diffuser along the rod; a hand-welded painted steel fork houses the linear halogen light bulb, allowing the diffuser to turn freely through 360° along its axis. The rod and base are made of powder-coated steel, while the joints on the rod are painted black for the ivory version and brown for the brown version. These joints make it possible to bend the rod in two places, at the base and in the middle, allowing users to shape the lamp to their liking. Silk-screen printed matt Diesel logo at the base of the rod; the electrical cable and dimmer are transparent. Features. Fork Collection. Designer: Diesel Creative Team. Type: Floor lamp. Brightness: semi-diffused and direct orientable. Dimmer included. Adjustable lampshade. Available in 4 colors: brown/grey, brown/ivory, ivory/grey, ivory/ivory.

  • Aplomb Floor Lamp By Foscarini
    2modern.com
The Aplomb project explores the technological and expressive possibilities of concrete, a rough yet at the same time appealing material, achieving a leap of scale and genre: from large contemporary architectural building to a small designer lamp. Aplomb floor lamp recalls a burning torch, to be grabbed and moved easily to where it is needed. Its light beam is an intense up-light, but it creates no glare because it is completely screened from view by the shape that encloses the light source, that visually takes up space for observers up-front, but with a smaller thickness when observed from the side. Light and material are its absolute focus, without any other elements which would mar its pure design and style. Floor lamp with indirect light. It is offered in 3 colors: white, grey or brown. Features. Aplomb Collection. Designed by Lucidi e Pevere, 2013. Made in Italy. Materials: Cement diffuser, made with a special amalgam colored with pigments, produced by pouring the fluid mixture into a mold. Extruded aluminum rod and die cast zinc alloy base coated with epoxy powder paint. Type: Floor lamp. Colors: White, Grey, Brown. The transparent cable is fitted with a dimmer which can be used both to adjust the level of luminous intensity gradually or as the on/off switch. Specifications. Dimensions (inches): Overall: 12.5W x 70.88H x 8D. Shade: 15.94H x 4.31D. Base: 12.5W x 8D. Cable Length: 86.5. Lamp type: Halogen. Swedish architect and designer Greta Magnusson Grossman broke through gender barriers to embark on a prolific career. In 1940, she and her husband immigrated to the United States, where her approach to Swedish modernism struck a chord with single, professional women who felt that she understood their needs and sensibilities. She opened a store on Rodeo Drive, where her furniture and accessories quickly drew the attention of clients such as Greta Garbo, Joan Fontaine and Gracie Allen. In the 1950s, she founded her architecture office and designed 14 homes – 13 in California and one in Sweden – each one a showcase for her quietly dramatic approach. The Grasshopper Lamp (1948) has a lithe frame and an elongated conical shade that rotates to direct light where needed. This is an authentic Grossman lamp, produced to the designer’s original specifications. Bulb (not included): incandescent 40W/E12 or comparable CFL. Made in Denmark. Matte White is a.
  • Colibri Floor Lamp By Foscarini
    2modern.com
Reading a book by the light of a lamp: an intimate gesture that inspires a poetic and friendly form, a little guide that perches on a shoulder and accompanies our thoughts. Colibri gives form to this inspiration. It is the result of a continual line that draws a bird with a rounded head and a long tail, which becomes in turn a little diffuser and an adjustable stem to orientate towards the light. Supported by a fine stem, made of light aluminum and with a solid metal alloy base, the polycarbonate diffuser projects a soft, yet direct light that can be orientated along a vertical axis. The design features extreme continuity: when it is orientated upwards the joint embraces the stem which, in turn, houses the wire, encased in a slim inner channel. A system of elements that combine in perfect harmony to become a single whole. Symbolic and mimetic at the same time, Colibri is a new inhabitant of the domestic space, designed to accompany reading, to light conversations or relaxation or to supply a halo of reflected light in your space, when directed towards the wall or the ceiling. It is an object that enchants with its simplicity and versatility. It is so discrete that it never passes unobserved, in both its color variants of white and green. Floor and reading lamp with direct light. Features. Colibri Collection. Designed by Odoardo Fioravanti, 2011. Made in Italy. Materials: Laterally and vertically adjustable batch-dyed polycarbonate diffuser. Extruded aluminum rod, die cast zinc alloy joint and base with laser-cut metal ballast, which are epoxy powder coated. Type: Floor lamp. Colors: White, Green. • Tress Floor Lamp By Foscarini
    2modern.com
The seduction of a woman’s tress was the initial inspiration for the Tress family of lamps. This design-come-true by Foscarini was achieved through the development of a completely original technological process, involving a fiberglass and resin tape woven with orderly casualness to become the structure and aesthetics of the lamp. Tress changes personality according to its color: it is light and discrete in white, strong and decisive in black and volcanic and totemic in red, which makes the contrast between the interior and the exterior even more evident. In the floor version the weave includes the power cables and acts at the same time as the structure, decoration and screen, a never before seen interplay of full and empty spaces, light and shadow. The light spread through the lamp produces a particularly attractive effect, thanks to two separate light sources: the one in the lower position completely illuminates the interior and highlights the graphic presence of the weave, while the upper light produces an illuminated reflection towards the ceiling. Floor lamp with diffused and indirect light. It is offered in 3 colors: white, black or red. Features. Tress Collection. Designed by Marc Sadler, 2008-2009. Made in Italy. Materials: The fiberglass-based composite material diffuser is produced by modeling tape along a mold with an automatic control of the pitch/pattern, which is then epoxy powder coated. Upper parabola made of aluminum. Type: Floor lamp. Colors: Red, White, Black. Available in 2 sizes: Medium or Large. The transparent cable is fitted with a dimmer which can be used both to adjust the level of luminous intensity of the upper light source gradually or as the ON/OFF switch for the lower light source. The large version features two separate light sources: one is located at the upper tip of the diffuser, and the other inside the diffuser. In the medium version: single light source in the base inside the diffuser; the dimmer fitted on the transparent cable can be used both to adjust the level of luminous intensity gradually as well as an ON/OFF switch. • Stewie Floor Lamp By Foscarini
    2modern.com
The Stewie lamp is a sensation on the domestic scene, a surprising and appealing character, which is both warm, relaxing and friendly, starting with the light it sheds. Indeed, the beam of light is cast downwards, creating a particular atmosphere within the room, which is irresistible and appealing, almost a contemporary hearth. The light from within is not just cast forwards, but also behind the volume of the lamp. Stewie has a soft yet dynamic body, which is large yet light-weight, just like the material used to make it: thermoformed polyethylene covered with a prismatic fabric, which is similar to that used for the production of trunks, backpacks, spectacle cases and motorcycling helmets. This solution makes it possible to create a large concavity, which is attractive and at the same time ideal to reflect light within it, with a pleasant soft lighting effect. Devised to move its pleasantly scenic presence from room to room, Stewie is ideal for the most disparate uses, with its unmistakable shape: a luminous and graphic mark that creates an atmosphere of convivial intimacy and puts everyone at ease: placed beside a sofa or an armchair, in the living room or in the bedroom, or even in communal areas inspired by a living- room concept. Floor lamp with ground-level and diffused light. It is offered in 2 colors: ivory, red. Features. Stewie Collection. Designed by Luca Nichetto, 2012. Made in Italy. Materials: The first larger diffuser is concave and made of thermoformed polypropylene foam coupled with prismatic polyethylene fabric, defined along the border by an epoxy powder coated metal profile. The second central diffuser, made of the same material as the larger diffuser, covers an epoxy powder coated metal plate which houses the lighting technology components. The supporting structure is made of epoxy powder coated tubular metal. Type: Floor lamp. Colors: Ivory, Red. On/off pedal on the transparent cable and electronic ballast. Specifications. Dimensions (inches): Overall: 30.25W x 10.25D x 27H. Cable Length: 102. Lamp type: Fluorescent. Bulbs: 1x40W 120V 2GX13 electronic ballast Fluorescent (not included) Certifications: UL listed.

Please note that wood veneers may appear different when light is on versus off. Our real wood veneers are selected to reveal the best natural wood grain effects when illuminated and all have been sourced from forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council - FSC. Nothing comes close to the beauty of these veneers as a diffusion material and no other veneer treatment gives the strength and the protection to the material without sacrificing the delicacy and subtleness that this natural material communicates when illuminated. Photographic reproductions of the stained LZF wood veneers, either digital or print, are not necessarily a completely accurate representation of the actual stain color. Please use real color swatches for tone matching. LZF will not accept any requests for return based on selections made using photographic reproductions. Since wood is a natural material, gradual changes in tone may occur over time. Furthermore, if the lamps have been purchased at different times, there will be differences in color and tone, particularly in the light colored veneers. Care: Our eco friendly patented wood veneer finish timberlite® protects your veneer from breakages and allows for easy cleaning. Depending on the type of lamp use a feather duster, soft cleaning cloth or damp cloth for cleaning. On our the more delicate shades, made from wood strips, a feather duster or an air blower is preferable. In our more solid shades a damp cloth may be used. Clean only the flat surface of the veneer with the cloth avoiding moisture contact along the edge of the veneer. Avoid direct sunlight or strong indirect sunlight on the fixture. • Rock Floor Lamp By Diesel Living with Foscarini
    2modern.com
Like a volcanic rock that when it breaks apart reveals a jewel within, Rock is an interplay of surprises and contrasts. Mysterious and severe outside, diamond-bright and iridescent inside. Outside, the dark version is rough, whilst inside, it shimmers, smooth and mother of pearl-covered. The white version assumes a new personality to fit in with each different use, a precious stone that highlights in particular its asymmetric facets, evolved according to a casual logic. They reflect the light’s rays in the internal surface as in a crystal, producing a surprising and unforgettable effect. In the warm and bright gold finish, which is similar to a giant freshly-mined gold nugget, it accentuates the contrast between the rough rockiness of the external surface and the precious brightness within. Rock can focus its light band to function as a reading lamp as well as casting light upwards. Floor lamp with direct and adjustable light, hemispherical diffuser in mixed ABS and injection molded polycarbonate. The outer cover is lacquered with matt "textured" paint, which not only colors but also makes the surface rough, while the paint on the interior is glossy and iridescent, white with greenish reflections for the brown and white version, and golden for the gold version. The conical joint supporting the diffuser is made of nylon with a fiberglass core and coated with liquid paint. Powder coated steel rod and hexagon-shaped base with the Diesel logo in relief in matt powder coated cast iron. Foot switch and cable both black for the brown and gold version, both white for the white version. Features. Rock Collection. Designer: Diesel Creative Team. Type: Floor lamp. Brightness: direct orientable. Adjustable lampshade. Available in 3 colors: white, brown, gold.
