Dog days. The French Bulldog Screen Print was created exclusively for CB2 in partnership with Renegade Craft Fair, an indie craft marketplace showcasing the brightest talents in contemporary craft and design. Celebrating the original goods of six independent makers and crafters, each unique item is designed in the USA in limited release. This charming companion is the creative vision of Chicago-based artist Ryan Kapp. Raised in Columbus, Ohio, Kapp spent his formative days skateboarding and drawing. He found early inspiration in bold skateboard graphics, which Kapp still incorporates in his printed and painted depictions of his travels and Midwest surroundings. Describing his work as simplified but not simple, Kapp renders this image as part of his "designer" dog series, with a graphic sensibility that explores the ideas of reduction and stylistic juxtaposition. Created digitally and then hand-screenprinted with water-based inks, his pet subjects were inspired by a walk in the park. Playful French bulldog pops against a sunny yellow backdrop for a quirky take on pop art portraiture. Created in limited-edition release of 300. Learn more about Ryan Kapp on our blog.
