The Halloween Ball was coming up, which meant a higher percentage of students talking and dreaming about the opposite sex. Good grief!
“Well maybe if you weren’t so shallow you would have a boyfriend by now!” Yoru stuck her tongue at me.
“I can’t help but judge people based on what they dream of. It’s a habit!” I folded my arms sullenly. It was a habit I wasn’t too proud of...
“How about for the next cute boy you see, you DON’T stalk him in his dreams?” Sohyun smiled at her cunning suggestion.
“Yeah.. okay.” I agreed to the idea. “I can do that. I don’t have to stalk people before liking them!” I became more enthusiastic with my words to assure myself. I’ll just act normal for once. Although, as a student of EPIK Academy, I don’t think I know what the definition of ‘normal’ really is...

It was finally the start of the Halloween Ball. Tons of students had showed up for the event, dressed all nice to impress their dates and crushes. Even Changjo had seated himself in a back corner with one of his friends, Kyungsoo.
“Is that for Sohyun?” Kyungsoo pointed to the orange rose in Changjo’s hand.
“Ah... do you have to say that so loudly?” Changjo lowered his head and blushed. Just the sound of her name made him nervous.
“Sohyun, Sohyun, Sohyuuuuun~~”
Changjo’s eyes suddenly widened. He put his flower down in case his body chose to burn it involuntarily. However, it wasn’t Kyungsoo who was cooing out her name so effortlessly. It turned out to be someone else....
“Who is that?” Changjo kept staring across from him.
“Um. That’s Sohyun.” Kyungsoo said in an obvious way.
“I know that! I mean the other girl talking to her. Is she in your class?”
“Uh... yeah. That’s Yonghye. You know her?”
“No. But I feel like I do...”
Kyungsoo just smiled. Anyone who is familiar with Yonghye knows this situation happens all the time.
“That guy!” Yonghye pointed to an anonymous boy from across the room. “I haven’t seen his dreams! And he looks kinda cute.”
“Go for it.” Sohyun nodded her head in approval.
The girls (some quickly and some hesitantly) formed a line. All that was left was for their prince charming to come and request a dance.
“Should I wave to him? How will he notice me?” Yonghye looked over to her friend, Yoru, for advice but noticed she had her eyes closed. When she looked back at the crowd she saw Changjo walking confidently to Sohyun.
“Finally! He’s making his move!” Yonghye thought. Or... was he?
Changjo stopped in between Sohyun and Yonghye. Instead of giving his rose to Sohyun he cocked his head to Yonghye and gave her a questionable look.
“Who are you?” He used his rose to point to Yonghye.
“Uh.. me?” Yonghye tried to seem innocent.
“Yes you. Have we met before?”
Those 4 words only led Sohyun to let out a cackle and for Yonghye to roll her eyes.
“No. We haven’t met.” Yonghye said with the dullest expression on her face. “Now can you move so this cute guy can see me?”
Changjo took a deep breath to say something but stopped himself. It took him a few seconds to gather his thoughts and interrogate her again.
“I-I must be crazy to think this but, I swear I have seen you in a dream.”
“Yes yes! You’re right! Now can you move? I don’t see cute guy anymore...”
“Wait I’m right?!”
“Yes. You ARE crazy! Now shoo! I don’t want to hear about your perverted fantasies!”
“Aish..” Changjo ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. When he turned back to Sohyun to resume his plan he noticed she was gone.
“W-where’s Sohyun?” Changjo asked.
Yonghye swirled her head from left to right. “Well now you blew it! Maybe if you stopped worrying about me you could have danced with Sohyun already.” Yonghye shook her head. “Babo..”
Changjo fought hard to not feel embarrassed once again. “What makes you think I was going to ask her?”
“Um. Isn’t it obvious? She manipulates fire... YOU manipulate fi-”
“So you WERE in my dream.” Changjo interrupted. “You did something. Or else you wouldn’t have known I can manipulate fire. Am I right!?” Changjo’s eyes were piercing a flaming hole straight through Yonghye’s lying soul.
Yonghye covered her mouth with her hand. It was too late to turn back know. He caught her red-handed. She knew if she said anything else it would only make the situation worse.
“Why aren’t you two dancing?” Ingrid flew in at such an inappropriate time. She swirled around Changjo and Yonghye until he was forced to take Yonghye’s hand to dance.
The scene was terribly awkward. Yonghye would much rather have switched places with Yoru, who got stuck with Toad yet again. Anything was better than dancing with Changjo at this moment.
“Just tell me how you did it, and why you did it. After that, I’ll leave you alone.” Changjo said calmly. In fact, Changjo acted so calm that he started to scare himself. At moments like these, he would start to feel his body overheat with emotions. It was rather odd that he hasn’t burnt the whole place apart by now. Was it the dancing?
“Ya.. can we stop dancing so I can tell you?” Yonghye asked. “I’m feeling a little dizzy.”
“No.” Changjo said firmly. “I don’t know what would happen if I stop dancing.”
“What? Do you realize how stupid that sounds?”
“Just tell me right now.” Changjo squeezed her hand in a quick motion in order to relieve the stress building in his brain. “Uh.. I didn’t hurt you did I?” He quickly relaxed his hands.
“No. But my legs feel like they are going to melt off my body.” Yonghye yawned.
Changjo sighed with relief. He wasn’t hurting her, or anyone for that matter.
“Uh. Yonghye? Are you okay?” Changjo caught sight of Yonghye’s drooping eyes.
“Hmm?” Was the only audible sound Yonghye was able to make. Soon enough she fell victim to gravity and passed out right on top of Changjo in the middle of the dance floor.
Thanks for reading! I had a hard time figuring out who should be Changjo's friend so @sparsile, I hope you don't mind I chose Kyungsoo. ^^;
