A footstool is also available for the Era collection, allowing ample opportunity for comfortable relaxation and rest for the feet. Choose between two lovely wool textiles with a vivid feel and beautiful structures, or soft, durable leather in a vast number of colors. Simon Legald says: ”It took a while to get the proportions and the interaction between the soft curves and straight lines on the shells just right. It was crucial that the upholstering and stitching were carried out with the utmost precision. I wanted to create individual chairs where each one had its own character. I did this through the variations of the high and low versions, and by the different frames available for the chair. For example, the wooden frames are flat and add warmth while the slimmer, round steel and chrome frames give a more industrial feel. Finally, the frame for the rocking chair is a slightly unexpected and playful choice for a lounge chair.” Priced with Gabriel Breeze Fusion upholstery-other materials available.
  • Normann Copenhagen Just Chair - Upholstered
    shophorne.com
Normann Copenhagen has carefully selected the materials for their attractive design as well as ensuring a durable result and a comfortable sitting experience. All the textiles are made of lovely wool blends with vivid expression, beautiful structures and plenty of play. In addition, they are all extremely durable and suitable for intensive use. The designer duo Iskos-Berlin has returned to the essence of the chair for Just. They have taken their reference point in the shape of the chair as typically drawn by a child, that is, with legs that seem to protrude directly from the seat. They have visually transferred this effect to the Just Chair, where a chrome frame has been uniquely tucked into the underside of the shell, transforming the chair to a harmonic, natural and unified whole. Just Chair is just as beautiful when seen from below as from above. The frame is discretely tucked into the chair's molded shell, and the shell's tapering thickness gives it a friendly and welcoming expression. The point where the legs and shell meet is done with incredible elegance and accentuates the high quality of the upholstering. Just Chair is available in an array of colors and excellent qualities that make it suitable for numerous environments and styles. Just Chair has been awarded the prestigious Interior Innovation Award: Selection 2014. Priced in Gabriel Breeze Fusion ( 88 % Wool, 12 % Polyamide) other textiles available upon request:

  • Hay - Hee Chair

The idea for Hee came up of the effort, to design an eco-friendly chair and armchair, whose material is easy to recycle. To create a piece of furniture out of one material, they avoid micro-pollutant transport ways between different production places, and it makes the process of recycling more easy. The main thought was to take an archetypal chair as model and to perfection it in every single detail and to boost it in a higher class and also to make it simpler and make the functionality better. A clear, plain piece of furniture was supposed to be created which should fit in many places - modern, but not too time-specific. Nothing was in vane for this Hee chair, no decorations or work. No part could be taken off, without loosing the function. From the outside it seems playful, but the design doesn't affect its function. Throw-away mentality and environmental awareness don't fit together. To find the balance was also important while the construction - to combine functionality and aesthetics on high level, the exact wire strength had to be chosen. The Hee-chairs, the Lounge Chair and also the bar stool are made of a 11 mm strong metal wire and in their shape they remind on a sketch, a three-dimensional pencil- drawing. Hee is available in the engrossment as a club armchair, as dining chair or as bar stool. It can be looked at in the new Osloer Opera House and in the Australian parliament. The stackable furnitures are galvanised and powder coated. That's why they can be used in every kind of weather and are a good outside furniture, too. Hay Hee is also available in further colours.

  • Philippe Starck Louis Ghost Chair, Set of 2
    dwr.com
Who else but Philippe Starck would dare mess with a king? Reinventing the classic Louis XVI armchair for Kartell, the playful Louis Ghost Armchair (2002) is a postmodern triumph of technical innovation and historical style. Translating the varied lines and formal geometry of its predecessor into a single form of injection-molded polycarbonate, the Louis Ghost is a robust chair with a medallion backrest for leisurely comfort. When interviewed about the collection by the Dallas Morning News, Starck commented that it “has a mix ofand styles based on our shared memories. We all own this piece in a way. The chair is well balanced; I try to be balanced myself.” Suitable for indoor and outdoor use in residential and commercial settings. Stacks six high. Made in Italy. Sold as a Set of 2. The single-piece injection-molding process used in making every Ghost Chair leaves behind several faint artifacts that are perfectly normal, not defects.

The Lounge Chair Ray was one of the first furniture pieces which came in production by the design-blacksmiths Hay. And it is the first design for an armchair by Jakob Wagners. Inspiration for Ray was the ocean – its plain, elegant shape is the similar like from its namesake, the Ray. The seating plate is wide, but it still seems really light, just like the fish is Ray thicker in the middle and becomes slender to the "wing tips". This is because of the soft springing which makes a nicer seating comfort. The overhanging of the seat makes it possible to put a magazine or plate next to you, or to just put your feet up. With the harmony of shape and function Ray purport any direction, with which Hay became famous in the design scene: The perfect balance of Scandinavian tradition and modernism stand for the whole collection of the Danish manufacturer from Horsens. Ray is also available as swivel chair. Furthermore there are further fabrics and colours available against extra charge.

The designer of the Danish duo Komplot were the first ones who created an industrial-produced chair, which is only made of textile canvas. Nobody is formed out of one piece and was produced in only one phase, which solution is a plain, light and stackable modern chair, which copes up with the demands of our time in the materials and production ways. The innovative chair won many famous Design Prizes (like the Design Plus Award 2009, Forum AID Award 2008). Its shape reminds of a piece of fabric, which is put on a chair, to protoct it. Will the chair be taken away from it, will the shape still be like it was before, and the fabric itself is the construction. That's why it is called Nobody – no body. Also the name bears on the chair which is hidden under the chair and not used. With Nobody the designers Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen turn the idea of the modernism inside out. Cushions have never been assessed, because they hide the basic structure of a furniture piece. While they kept the basic thought of the modernism with the demand for simplicity, easyness and the possibilities of the mass-production, the complot-duo removed the base in favour of cushioning, which becomes to the basic element. The chair is only made of form-pressed PET-Felt, a material which can be recycled to 100%, and which is made of recyclable plastic bottles. It is made out of one cast - neither a supporting frame, nor screws, plastic, glue, joints, or other connecting elements. The same technique is used in the mobile industry, to produce storing places and shorings for trunks. Nobody is also available in other colours.
  • Artek Paimio Armchair
    shophorne.com
As part of the permanent collection in the Museum of Modern Art, the Paimio Chair is an icon in furniture design. The chair was created by Alvar Aalto in 1932 as part of the furniture he designed for the tuberculosis sanatorium in the city of the same name. The frame that forms the armrests and floor runners are 2 closed loops of laminated wood. Between these rests a single sheet of plywood bent in such a way as to challenge just how far wood can be bent. The headrest and seat edge are tightly rolled to provide the greatest resiliency while the angle was chosen to provide the best position for the patient’s optimal breathing comfort. This remarkable chair is offered with a clear lacquered frame and a seat lacquered in black or white.

  • George Nelson Nelson Swag Leg Armchair
    dwr.com
George Nelson began with the base when designing his Swag Leg Armchair (1958). Insisting on machine-formed metal legs, he discovered a solution in swaging, a method of using pressure to taper and curve metal tubing. The next question became how to connect the legs, and Nelson answered it through his own deceptively simple engineering. He then received permission from Charles and Ray Eames to use the patented process that they developed for molding plastic. Adapting this process to suit his chair, Nelson created separate shells for the seat and back. First made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic, the shells are now made of recyclable polypropylene, consistent with the Herman Miller commitment to be a good steward of the earth’s resources. The Nelson Swag Leg Armchair flexes with the occupant, allows comfortable air circulation through an opening between the seat and back and has ample armrests. This is an authentic Nelson product by Herman Miller. Made in U.S.A.
