This is a story about a girl, Anne, who lives at a motel called The Paradise Palace in room twenty, and sleeps on a heart shaped bed. The place is cheap and dirty, but has a strange touch of class. Her parents dropped her off when she was twelve and they never came back. She's carefree and slightly childish, but underneath her candy coated veneer she's nervous and shy. To counteract this problem she has weekly visits with the resident therapist, Charlotte, who lives in room one-nineteen, next to the good vending machines. And very recently she has fallen deeply, madly, and hopelessly in love with the ever dashing night manager, Cain, who lives in room three. The only problem is that he barely knows she exists.
